dreamin' of this very ride!
I've been in Boise some years now, dreamin' of this very ride with my ol' BMW GS. Neither of us has much off road experience, but I'm hankerin' to get it. I didn't notice any big fuel tanks in the pix, so I assume gas wasn't an issue, despite the views of a lot of nothingness. Did anyone have any mechanical issue on this ride?
Great stuff! You guys are my inspiration to get off the dime. |

I have a 4.9 gallon IMS tank on my DR650 and I was the only one that ran short. The first day from Jordan Valley to south of Paradise Valley, NV was almost 200 miles and I ran out 5 miles from the gas station. I leaned it over and got enough in the left side to make it the last 5 miles. No mechanical issues.

Wow! Good stuff! I plan to explore that area this year. Thanks for the inspiration! Gotta step foot on the ID/OR/NV border!

I just found this report, great ride. I have been very near some of your routes, possibly on some, but this is giving me ideas for next spring.
Do you have any info on the situation with the owyhee river fords since the wilderness designation? Do you know if the tracks that cross are still open?

I hate it when they do that. The mysterious They recently repaired the most challenging section of one of my favorite half day rides It might as well be paved now.

Somehow I do not think I saw this report before. Thanks for dragging it up.
It looks like that section between McDermitt and the Star Valley Ranch is on one of the routes I made up for this year's trip. How was the crossing at the ranch? That section looks pretty cool.

I don't recall, so I guess it must have been fine. I seem to remember some big rocks possibly.
