Orange and Green Nanna Ride

For about a week and half I have been thinking about my next ride. I Emailed Joe aka Mortaygo at work what I was thinking of doing and he emailed back he wanted to go to. I told him I ride slow like your Nanna but he said no problems but the first half of the ride was his.

Anyway it was set for a 7:30 AM departure form Joes house.

Where we went




Its 7:30 am outside Joes house, I wait in nervous anticipation not really knowing what the first half of the ride will be like.

The Green



I hear the sound of an engine coming from the rear of Joes house,, next minute a grinning Joe Launches out of his driveway doing a wheelstand. (OH SHIT comes to mind). The Orange has arrived

Anyway we fly along over hill and dale on the tar through back streets front streets side streets through some roads I know some I don’t. Finally we arrive at the entrance to D’Aguilar National Park……

We are Going up there





Joe has to keep stopping waiting for me to catch up,,, I was slow to start with but got quicker as the day progressed…



The Forest was beautiful damn we are lucky in OZ so many great spots to ride…

Anyway out of the park onto Kilcoy for fuel for the bikes and fuel for the riders,,, forgot to take a picture,,, then was onto Monsildale Rd. It was here I realized that all my planning had not made it to the GPS,,,, hahahaha what the heck it as an adventure ride anyway…..

If I could have 1% of Joes riding ability it would make me a happy person..

Joe leaves me in a cloud of dust fortunately the further ahead he gets the less dust I have to eat LOL







We rode along Monsildale rd then rejoined Joes Freeway, Kilcoy Murgon Rd on the look out for the turn onto Kadanga Rd

Joe even has an orange shirt






Not long after this it all went Pear shaped at home later I realized our error we went left when we should have gone right Not to worry it is an adventure ride…

Well we found an awesome road I loved it, as you road along trees branches were grabbing at you, grass was so tall in the centre you could see your headlight shining on it. As we were riding along I kept thinking what is the worse thing that could happen if it suddenly ended nowhere…. We would have to back track wooooooooo hoooooo

Through a gate GPS was starting indicate Eastern Branch Rd was close buy



Joe was lying down near a creek taking pics of me riding past HAHAHAH little did I know he was hoping I would stop as it was good spot for lunch,,, sadly I barreled past in my haste to try to get ahead to snap some pics of him

At the moment the KLR exceeds my skill level , buidling up to trip to Tassie march next year everything going well,, so after that could be ready for one

Next bike will be a TDM900 replacing the ST1100, maybe the Virago

Had a really great day,,,, really loved the mystery of it all LOL especially that overgrown trail,,,,, that gate we came to just at the bottom of that sandy bit I think is the back gate to landcruiser park,,, according to the GPS plot on Google Earth

This was my first decent ride on the 690 since putting the tank and racks on, I am very happy with the bike, it is easily the most versitle bike I have owned. I have trail ridden it in tight hilly country, road biked it up the mountains and covered lots of different types of country on adv type rides... floats along the hwy with comfort (thanks to my new Renazco seat and KTM Screen).

Mick decided to pull up for a Nana coffee and a smoke, and proceeded to attempt to burn down half the valley!!!! well not quite, the stove fell over, set the grass on fire and the bill water put it out......... Middle of a total fire ban!!!!

A few of us did similar yesterday up as far as Kilcoy but then spent a bit of time on the other side of "Joe's Freeway" and came back along Monsildale Rd.
