Wow. That is incredibly unfortunate. You have to imagine that he never saw it coming. We don't know what he was doing on his cool down or victory lap, but to be hit by the third place finisher at 124mph? I wonder if the third place guy didn't miss the checkered flag or something.
RIP, Pascal Grosjean. You are forever the race winner.

It doesnt give alot of detail but, when I was racing I would keep a moderate pace until the 2nd turn to aviod being rear ended by guys that were still fighting for thier finishing positions. Just because your race is over doesnt mean the other guys behind you are done.
I would see some guys slow way down once they passed the finish line and then become hazards for guys charging hard all the way to the line. I am not saying that this was the case here, something to share and think about. tragic any way you look at it...
