The purpose of this thread is to serve as a subsection for the dual sport riders of the Southeast Regional Forum. I would like to keep a list of rides (both formal and informal) for Western NC, SW Virginia, SC Mountains, North GA and Eastern TN. I keep missing rides or finding out too late. Sometimes the rides are buried in the vendor section or are predominantly listed on other forums. This is not a vendor thread, but a place for riders in this area to have one thread where the can see what is going on. If posting, please provide dates, times, links to ride thread and type of dual sport bikes it is suited for. I welcome any feedback.

Here is what I know of so far:

October 17-18 YanniPalooza Fall 2009 (http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...798179&page=1). This is geared towards more dirt oriented DS bikes. Located in Western NC.

October 23-25 Acme Motorcycles Mud, Music, Motorcycles and High Test Gasoline (http://www.acmemotorcycles.com/media...re_poster.pdf). Location: Western NC.

October 31st or Nov 1st Sandblast Rally Pre-run (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=514654)

November 7-8th Fuzzy Beaver Rally #3 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507100). Location: Murphy, NC. Best for lightweight and middleweight DS bikes.

These are just the organized ones. If you have a local one that you don't mind others joining, please post up.

Subscribed! David I think this is a great idea.

I, like you, have missed several events only finding out later that they were moved into the vendor section or elsewhere by the moderators. I know they say if you have to pay to ride then it goes in the vendor section but there are other threads here that promote 'paid' events that never get moved for some reason. Maybe the mods are just playing favorites for some reason. Hardly seems fair but whatever. I personally feel even if it is a paid event it should still go under whatever region the event is taking place. When I think of finding out about rides/events going on the Vendor section is definitely not what comes to mind.

Anyway, hopefully this will solve a lot of those problems.

Thanks Kevin. I don't think the Mods should have a problem with a link to the vendor section. I am subscribed to HARDCORE Inmates, but I will try to cross link these threads for people who may not follow it.

Subscribed, and hoping to contribute upcoming rides. We need to do a Buzzard's Roost/Hurricane Creek/32 Dirt overnighter this season!

I've been wanting to do Hurricane creek since I first noticed the break in the guardrail on I-40 some yrs ago.

Everytime I pass by I kick my butt for not getting over there on DSbike

Sounds like we need to plan this thing sometime in the near future. Hotsprings Campground is a good starting point.

careful out there

from what i can tell from looking at Yanni's ride he is planning to ride the Caney Fork area. i don't have any idea how he would do this LEGALLY. his posts on TT indicate he's going to ride trails that have been recently tank trapped and/or gated. i was out there about a month ago and they've closed almost all of Caney Fork and all the legal access off Charlies Creek that i'm aware of.

i would not feel comfortable telling others about this ride or going on it. unless i first told them that i thought they would likely be riding illegally at least part of the day.

just my $.02

It usually is a huge help to the Forest Rangers when the rides are fully posted like that.
The NFS love ADV, most of the time, they see a 'big ride' planned, they go ahead and head into that area, and wait.

...like fish in a barrel....

checking lights, mufflers, and for DOT tires...or it that specific case, checking for wayward 'lost' ADV'ers with some extra cash that the NFS needs.

Just got off an awesome 2-day day ride up in the Fork. Lots of good times, as the OP of this thread will surely agree. Caney Fork is not all closed. Get out and ride more , and you can enjoy the 80-miles of pure, legal, trail we rode on Saturday alone. We did all that and never got close to Charlie's Creek. Loosen up a little man. I thought the AA300 hoo-rah was over by now.

I think you are misinformed on the areas we rode. We did not cross or ride around any tank traps the entire weekend. Everything was legit. As far as I could tell, everyone was on street legal DS bikes. The on thing that should have been illegal was how much fun we all had! Ryan and Kelly are stand up guys and we couldn't have asked for better host. Why does everyone feel the need to give him (Yanni) so much shit. Let's keep this thread going in a positive direction. If you would like to subit an upcoming ride, I highly encourage it. Otherwise, please post elsewhere.
