Sounds great. I rode Hurricane for my first time last weekend and it was FUN!! Albeit I did not have the right tires on.

I think I will change out to some knobbies I have and test it out again. probably wont camp, but might see you there...

Hurricane Creek Camping

Hurricane Creek Camping

Ryan,
That might be a plan.
Hurricane Creek to I40 is dual-track? but quite rutted? I wrote that once before. Anything more technical than that afterwards and I should probably bail at that point.

To save my knobs, I'll probably avoid I40 and take 19/25 -- meet you at Trust. You are leaving AVL then at 10? I'll plan my stop at Trust to take that into account.

I won't be camping; never got the gear.

Wicked

So sounds like there may be some campimg going on....
Few points to clarify, this is leisure campinb, once I get to the campsite may ride, may not...either way its going to be laid back with no agenda. We will more than likely go back to trust for water ice and beer. Getting there will be pushed though so we can get the good spot. There is a possibility that me and buddy (mike on x-challenge) will be going down on friday. Will post up if we do...

If not the plan is to leave avl at 10, quick stop in trust at 11, then trail head at the top of hurricane creek at 11:15, leave at the bottom of the hour. Meet me anywhere along there at those times just let me know. All are welcome call me...

yea hurricane creek is an easy but still fun trail. My girlfriend ran the whole thing on her dr200. A determined individual on an 950 se or the like could make it. Would love to make this trip but it just ain't happening this time. You guys have fun!

Eek that was interesting

I was up through Wesley Creek this afternoon, and saw the trail head for Hurricane Creek -- so I thought I would try it out.

Well, ok -- that was an experience. Anyone who can take a big KTM adventure bike down that, more power to them, hats off, and so on.

I stayed up the whole time, but still I found it challenging and exhausting. The knees were a hurting by I40. Pretty much my limit for technical skill. So tomorrow is a day of rest for me!

BTW, Friday, not much rain fell on the trail, so you won't find that much mud, except puddles from the rain from prior days. Stream crossings are more or less as I remember from before. Some deeper than others.

Have fun!

riding Sunday 8/8

Last days of vacation........and it looks like Sunday should be a good day to ride, weather should be cooler (mid 80's instead of low 90's) and 30% chance of rain.

so who's riding what, when you leaving, and from where?

i was thinking something on the rougher side along the lines of Harmon Den/Hurricane Creek, or Caney Fork/Moses Creek. i'm certainly open to other suggestions for similiar riding though. actually i'd love it if someone would take me to something new

PS sorry for the crosspost but i'd like to get a chance to ride with some of you, i've been riding by my self a lot recently a would enjoy some company.
