Tuesday ride to Cherry Lake.

I took the scenic route to Cherry Lake today. It was cold. I dressed warm, but there were times when I wish I had my electric liner and gloves.

Here's where the adventure began.

Down below the Toulumne River flows silently.

The road down was pretty good. Nothing major going on. I thought it would be a mud fest?

The river moving along. I passed a river rafting company truck on my down. I tried to get down to get some pictures of the them going down the river, but there weren't any good spots to stop to take pictures.

One of a few bridges that I crossed over.

Another bridge crossing. There were some forestry workers on the other side having lunch. I didn't stop to chat, but I think they were there clearing the roads?

The river was roaring here. I have never seen it moving that fast. The picture dosen't do it justice.

The road on the other side of the river. Most of it was pretty mellow. There were a few muddy and rocky sections but nothing major.

I thought I would stop and have lunch here in the clearing. I know, poor me.

One of the many dirt roads along the way. There wasn't much snow but it was very cold.

Back to the pavement.

Once I hit the main road, there was snow everywhere. It went from cold to freezing.

Another great shot.

I was starting to get concerned with the road conditions. I was at the point of no return so, I pressed on.

Finally, I reached my objective. Cherry Lake in all it's glory.

It was getting late and the temperature was still starting to drop. It was time to head home to take a hot shower. What a great ride. However, this one made me think that I should get a Spot locator or, similar device in case I broke down or, got hurt. I didn't see anyone on the main road at all. They must of had more sense to stay at home?

Hope you like the pictures.

Jason.

Great pics, give it another 2 weeks and the ride will get much warmer in that area - thanks for sharing.

Yeah, in another month or two, I'll probably be complaining about the heat.

Pissed Hey...

You rode right past my house!!! I would have gone...

Actually, you really did. I live 300 feet off Buchanon Road, just as you drop into that first deep canyon, 1 mile out of Tuolumne. If I was sitting on my deck that day, I would have seen/heard you drive by (but I was at work).

Looks like you had fun.

Next time you head this way, pm me. Maybe I can go.

Would this be the Cottonwood/Forest Route 1N04 out of Tuolumne?
