I might be able to join you for part of the trip. I am thinking that I will haul the bike to Boulder and meet you from there, but no camping for me!

Mike you might want to look at the tracks. I understand the no camping, but some of the legs between towns are long enough that the no camping just wouldn't work. Send a PM with you email and I will send you the tracks and you can look for yourself and see what you think.

So "Too old for dirt" (mike) and I go riding this weekend. Mike takes me down some fine Mississippi gravel roads. Now I love my 1200 GS-A, but it didn't like those roads at all. In fact the old girl wallowed around like a drunken sailor. Not having spent a lot of time in the dirt, my riding senses were in a constant state of alarm by this wallowing. I found it easiest to just stand up and let the bike do what she wanted and steer by shifting weight from one peg to the other. So I'm having fun. I'm a little out of my comfort zone and then we get to some pavement. Time to relax a little and pick up the pace.

As we are coming into this corner Mike starts to slow, and I am on the brakes trying not to run up on him. I see his rear end step out a bit then WAM, my front end starts to fold under, I'm off the brake and then it tries to shrug me off the high side. It all happened so fast I couldn't believe it, and then I'm in danger of running of the road on the outside of the turn and now I'm riding in marbles. Not very fun.

It scared the crap out of my when the front end knuckled under. I thought I was going down for sure. I've got some more good video to come.

I know it's short notice, tomorrow (May 15) I'll be riding up to Nashville to carry the Prostate Cancer Pony Express bag. I'll be meeting another rider there who will be bringing the bag to Atlanta. We'll be eating dinner at Blackstone Brewery.

I'll be leaving Shelby Farms visitor center at 11am, snaking over to the Natchez Trace, and up from there.

Come on!

Jamie

Love that ride, Jamie--too bad I can't get the time off work.

When I first made the route, it was longer and the estimated time was something like ten hours.

I had to trim it down and straighten it out a bit. I still have a couple options where I can cut a corner and shave off a few minutes if it comes down to it.

For those of you who might be able to make it, eat a big brunch. There is no planned lunch stop, though we will be stopping occasionally for gas, so you'll be able to pick up snacks and a drink along the way.

Dinner in Nashville when we arrive.

Perfect day to ride

The "new guy" post on the dinner ride thread reminds me that we have not had a recent ride planned. Sat. weather sounds perfect, cool after hopefully some rain. I suggest we meet at the intersection of 57(poplar) and 76 in Moscow and ride either to Chickasaw or Flicks. Kick stands up at 9:00 am.

Any interest or other suggestions. I am open to any ideas.

Mike you might want to double check you TAT plans. They have a huge forest fire going in New Mexico.

Looks great! Couple of hairy moments in there. Gravel in the road?

I'm impressed with how often you're watching in front of you. I'm afraid if I had a helmet cam, the video would show just how often I'm staring off in the distance looking at the scenery.
