2 Days 500 miles a DRZ and The Grand Canyon

This is my first ride report ever!!!

I took the trip last year, so its only a little late

I spent last summer working 7pm to 7am in the trauma center in Flagstaff AZ. I tried several times to go camping on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon but it never seamed to work out. One morning on my way home from work I decied to just pack my stuff and go. Being a last minute trip it would be my first camping trip in the mountians solo. I grabed a few hours of sleep, packed my bike and headed out!!

Took this a few miles outside of Flagstaff, one of my fav pics!!!

Once out of Flagg you spend some time on the Navajo Reservation

I was trying to camp at Crazy Jug point but ran out of daylight looking for it. Still had a great spot right on the rim. There was some thunder that night and to listen to it echo down the canyon was unforgetable!

The next morning after packing up camp I headed into the North Rim visitor center.

After spending about an hour at the visitor center I headed back to Flagstaff. This would have been a 400 mile trip but I came off the mountian on the wrong side..... I still made it home in time to shower and head to work. It might have been a little crazy to head off by my self but the trip was definitely woth it!!!

Great pics buddy. How does that big tank go on the tighter trails? Do you get much of a tank slapper effect?

I have Loved having the big tank! Could not have done this trip without it. I feel safer in the single track with the tank because it protects the radiator better.

I'm uploading some more pics will have them in a little bit.

Here is another of the cliffs on the way up.

Whats camping without the campfire?

More from my campsite.

Heading out in the morning

More from the North Rim National Park

Do you see me in the mirror ...LOL

More on the Res on the way home

Hope you like the extra Pics!

I think everyone should go to the south rim once, but really spend some time at the north rim. It really is worth the extra drive!!!

It did ok but not great. With that said its because the bike was set up for dirt. I had not had the bike very long when i took the trip. It still had a 14T front sprocket instead of the stock 15T. It also had non DOT full knobie tires. I'm currently running the 15T front sprocket and Dunlop 606 tires and it does much better on the street and is still a blast off road. In the spring i'll be looking for a V-Strom or Tiger for commuting and 2up ridding.
