Just picked up this 81 r65 for the wife spent all morning mounting the Manxman fairing, had to build the w/screen out of an old snowmobile windshield (ZR600) also built some new brackets, I did locate a new screen for $100.00, but thats the best thing about these old girls, simplicity

Back to Bikes

After an R27 and an R50 in the early '70's I got hooked on boats. Thirty years later, when I'm not sailing I'm back to bikes on this R90/6.

This bike keeps haunting me...

I just barely missed it on ebay a couple years ago, didn't quite
understand the bidding process and lost it at the last moment
on Christmas day when I got home from a trip moments before auction closed. I kicked myself for weeks. Rick had even offered
(via email) to ride it close to me for a test ride

It went for $3500 then I think.

I thought Rick said the frame came from a r100/7

Hope you enjoy it walkingbear

Nice bike there, bearwacker...

Hmmmn, les'see.... Modded heads of undisclosed vintage, 1050cc forged slugs, approx 12:1 compression.... and... ping-free single plug operation.... heh heh heh.... Approx 25% increase in torque and power and 25% better fuel economy... All through a nice quiet stock exhaust. The stock front Brembo howls the Avon at any speed this thing'll do. More brakes: Why?

226k kms, so far.

Hmmmn.... where to next?

Kinda wished I done the 1050 kit.. but was talked out of it.
I have the high compression pistons.. It's fast in the street and
good in the dirt

Lornce, did you do the work yourself? If not, where'd you get it done? I live in Guelph, that's why I'm curious.

So there I was, going soothingly through the grease-mud when the lurking skid demon made for the woods with my front wheel....

rockt,
Don Morris at Stay Tuned Systems in Mount Hope did the heads and the boring. Don really knows where to find HP. If you make it by his shop, ask to see his Buell road racer. It scares Gixxer pilots. Do you think I can find his card?
