That is not a modified bottom clamp. It has a different clamping method, maybe a Toaster Tan brace? Another downside of machining a bottom brace to fit is you must make the place where the center nut mounts as thin as the stock steel one for the original mounting parts to work. Not as strong, I would think....

OK, at the risk of derailing the picture thread even further - I think I understand this arrangement now. In the pic quoted below, I believe we are looking at an R65 top *screw*, (rather than nut) on a lower triple machined to be used as an upper. Consequently, this method would require the R65 specific steering stem. Am I right?

i figured the blue cap acts as a red flag. or if they come to close they would get poked in the eye.

went for a ride today.. +4 c in the greater Toronto area.. downright balmy!
