Did either the UK or Germany have police RSs with that big orange patch on the fairing? Am I just dreaming? Whatever the case, good looking bike.

The Motorsport models had the orange bit, lots of rumors that these models started off as a cancelled police order, there was also a rumor that these bikes had blueprinted engines, but who knows...

Uk police only used RT fairings, (i think) either with 1000 or 800cc engines, usually with wire wheels, even on the Brembo bikes

Those tires appear to have too much tread. Please ship that bike to me and I will wear the tread down to the proper level.

They were Conti Go Tyres. The rear only lasted 2.5k

That looks like an interesting tire. I have run Conti's in the past, but never tried the "Go" tire. I just received my new Pilot Activs, going to mount and balance them soon. Working on carbs right now. NICE bike, Rob!

Not sure Charles but I'd heard (rumours again) that the Motorsport with the S fairing was the cancelled police order (who knows the truth though). Mick Barr, he was a BMW dealer in the 80's, told me years ago that the RS models just didn't sell so BMW tried lots of colour schemes and Ltd editions to try to sell them. If you look at UK RS machines the manufacturer date is usually a long time before the UK registration so I guess they may well have been stuck on the showroom floors.

I sold it a few years ago to a Frenchman who appeared on this site briefly. I've only got a tiny garage and the RS took up most of it so, reluctantly, it had to go. It was a great bike though and had one of the best engines I've ever had in an Airhead.

Sunny and 70 here today, so I figured it was a good time to take the Old Battlewagon out for a spin.

Jeez, I love riding this thing!

To add to the RS collection. Not a motorsport or a last of model.

What fairing is that on the middle bike, factory BMW or something else? I think it might look good on my CB 750F/SS.

THANKS.

I agree that it looks like a Hannigan. The lowers look a little different than mine but I have an old Hannigan. These fairing are still be made in Arkansas. If you want the prices and more info you should call Jim (I think it's Jim) on the phone. But you can see a whole bunch of the product on the Web Page;
