Here's my new love child
It wasn't planned, honest!
I went shopping with my wife for a new helmet for her, and then I bumped into this:

A nearly new Basic, 8000 km on it, how could I resist that?

She still doesn't have a new helmet...

Michel,

I'm not sure if is should pity your addiction, or celebrate the new addition to the family. Either way it's a fine looking bike.

Enjoy

I don't think my GS was ever as clean as that. Not even when I rode it off the forecourt, brand new.

It's now my "standby/guest" bike since the Vstrom (DL1K4) gets major road duty now.

Although as I have told many folks...
I would take (and have taken) the '88 GS much deeper into the dirt than I would feel comfortable with on the Vstrom.

But then... If I was going "way" into the dirt I would choose my '03 KTM 450 EXC... plated for dualsport use.

Wow and Wow again.... Thats the nicest 75/5 I have seen in long time. I am rebuilding a 1972 75/5 now.....I hope it turns out as good as yours. Did that year have battery covers? Also the turn signals with the reflectors where did you find them?

Battery covers were not stock that year - only when they went to the long wheelbase version. The turn signals are also stock.

I knew it was a bad idea to look at this thread! So many beautiful bikes here. Now I'm feeling the need for another Airhead.

Bought this R65 2 years ago for $650 with 6000 miles on it. Cleaned the tank and rebuilt the carbs and it ran like a top. Didn't use a drop of oil even though it had sat for about 18 years. Still had the original ContiTwins on it. Found it by placing a wanted ad for old BMWs in the local paper. I got a call from a lawyers office that had acquired it in some backruptcy deal. He had 2 he was auctioning off, this and an early K75. Only 2 other people showed up. Wish I still had it but had to sell it and the R80RT to help pay for the GS.

My first Airhead, 86 R80RT

I'm surprised no one has posted pics of this sweet toaster cafe. Not mine but a guy can dream can't he?
