At the left is my third airhead- a R75/6 with US (lower ratio) final drive & mph speedo. Most Australian /6s had kph speedos. It was acquired fitted with a Craven (Police style) fairing which was replaced with the S-type shown. Over-cylinder racks fitted with driving light on right.
Photo from 1978 or '79.

The present. 4th airhead after a 25 year gap . . . a '77 R100RS with RT bars and coupled to a seven-y.o. Ural chair. Previous owner fitted R75 final ratio & deep sump. I had the reduced-trail Triple Trees from Ft. Worth. TX fitted recently and it now has light steering.

My ole girl

This is my first bike in about 25 years... and I have fallen in love all over again... nothing sounds like the old boxers wound out to redline (though redline occurs long after other bikes are over the horizon...) Had a blast going through what was basically an extremely well cared for bike: Euro bars, new Magura grips, new headlight harness, new H4 headlight, funky "new" spotlight rigged to the high beams, CuLayer LED tail light, many SS bolts etc, new shock bushings, new tires, new Corbin seat (for we who are inseam-challenged), lots of dis-assembly, cleaning, lubing, re-assembly. What a hoot to ride and wrench, and an attention-getter always!

bajacondor: Any info of the bags would be appreciated.

I’ve seen folks suggesting the Royal Enfield leather bags as a possibility, but the lacing around the seams looks :ymca

On the other hand the bags on your 65 are definitely a case (sic) of less is definitely more.

Bpeckm:

Cheers

John

Hey thanks, guys. This site is an excellent source of inspiration and advice.

I found those bags on ebay and took a gamble. They were $130 shipped. I'm really happy with them. I had this idea of how I wanted them to look, and they're almost perfect. They were custom made by a guy in Mass for a Harley Haritage I think. That's all the ebay posting said. They were slightly used. I just have them hanging over the wheelwell, laced between the seat hinges.

Speaking of having an idea of how I want my bike to look, I did some half-assed photoshopping to describe what I'd like to do next. I'd like a single seat, with a nice big rack back there. You guys have any ideas for how I should get started?

Thanks again!

Dood, you need to start your own little bike thread here in Old Skool.

Love the photochop.

Thank you. I feel more like it's caretaker than it's owner. I have bought, but not picked up, a 1994 BMW R100RT one owner with 5,445 miles on it! I now own two airheads that have one owner histories and unbelievable low miles. I'll be posting photos of the RT as soon as I get it home.
