Yeah it is, ![]() I'd love to find a XS650 as slick as that one looks.

My brother had an earlier gold model 71? and that one gave the bug to my Dad.
My Dad bought a 500 first, dark purple if memory serves and I rode it a lot. My first "big" bike. He later bought a 78? maroon 650. Great bikes.

xs650's
1977D came in maroon and blue. For 78 they changed the tank to this with screw on nameplate and added the vaccum petcocks.
Side covers retained the 77 look. There was a limited production of STD's for 79 (500?) for the US market. STD's were still being produced through 1983. Only available overseas. And yes, the 78 below has a set of pipes and front fender off a special... Other than that, she's a stocker. ![]() 1980 XS650... ![]() The above statement in the post with the photo of 3 650's may be wrong unless the tank has been changed. IE, it could be a 78E with a 77D tank and side covers on it. But I identify it as a 77D

He said he thought it was used for towing they were used that way. But it looks to small and light for that purpose. Its been in the family since new and no one has any idea what its for.
