Today was my first ride back on my Egli Vincent since the accident that left me with a 1/2 right arm... Had to clean the carbs but the Vincent started easy ( ES...) and rode ad a Vincent: no thrill but a steady push to forbidden speeds with great handling!

72 Yamaha R5 with RD350 heads.

Bought this as a project, it was 80% done, with RD350 heads with new pistons/rings.
Still need some carb. fine tuning, but is almost there

I would give up a leg and a arm to get to rid one of those

That brings back the memories The R5 was my first street bike and I rode that thing everywhere. I remember that as a great bike, I wonder what I would think riding one 33 years later ?

Had a friend that had that rd 350 AC then got the 400 LC they were fun as all hell. Not sure my 47 year old body would enjoy it as much as my 17 yaer old body did! But If I could find a good one I would make a special place for it in my garage and ride it as much as my old bones would let me ! . Probably great for scaring the wife too! Fond memories of girls geting off my friends bike and saying to me " your crazy" .

The Z1 is most definitely NOT a horrible handling machine. Perhaps something was wrong with the one you rode.

PS: I'm not a Z1 fanboy or owner either. Just ridden my fair share.

This Bald, middle aged older rider......

Love seeing those vintage machines. Still have a 75 cb 400.

Many many of those bikes have given me blisters, hours of wind and fun.

Thanks for making my day.
