After again. Bought this bike new in '77. Sold it in '79. Bought it back in 2002 the way you saw it from the guy i sold it to. The clutch cover had a hole in it that epoxied. Found another one. new ,correct Akron rims. redid every nut and bolt all origional. Steering head bearings , brake shoes, fork seals. wheel bearings and seals. I left it the way you see it with the thor swingarm and fox shocks couse thats the way I raced it. I got the origional swingarm from the guy a few years later. But its unrestored and will probably stay that way. It's a combination of OEM and reproduction parts. reproduction seat cover from australia. All over. The tank ,amazingly , was undented. If the aluminium area was dented it would have been useless. I was planning on racing it in the vintage class ,but after allthe work I figured I'd look for another on and just make it ridable. Cant find one though. I have pics of it new when i first bought it.Somewhere. One of these days I'm gonna turn it around so I can look at the other side for a while

The Sabre
The Sabre was one of the first bikes in the 10s in the quarter, wellll, with Gleason pulling the trigger
127K and she still runs like she is new and I have done nothing to her but ride her hard in all kinds of conditions. I am lucky if I change oil once a season. Sabres have gobs of low and mid range torque and incredible top end. She pulls hard PAST her 10K redline and has extremely long legged gearing. 6 spd, liquid cooled and if you could reach redline in top gear, you would be pushing 180mph. That will NOT happen on this bike, but just to give you the idea of how long legged she is. Hey, how bout my 84 and 04 Hondas! ![]() ![]() ![]() The Sabre AND the XR both have tall seats. The Corbin brought down the height on the Sabre a few inches but it doesn't matter to me as I have a 36"+ inseam Just bought me a little more wind protection when it is cold is all. Hey, here is another one of me about 30+ yrs ago sitting next to my dad's Triumph Tiger 650. Funny how they recycled names over the years. He had a Bonneville, a Trident and a Tiger. Liked the Tiger the best. ![]() For those who don't know the Sabre...
