Motocross School VII with new 250 4 stroke!

I was more excited than usual for MX School last Wednesday...Ronnie, one of my instructors was going to bring one of his very fancy factory RM-Z250 race bikes for me to buy. We had already negotiated the price and all I had to do was pay him and ride the bike away...I was also splitting the lesson with my good friend Gman. We loaded my trusty Yamaha TW-200 in my van for him to ride...We were wondering if there would be enough room for both bikes on the way home.

Here's Gman getting is Game Face on.............

Oh man this is great! I need a ladder to mount the yellow beast, but I knew that already. There were some things I didn't know though: "4 strokes are a lot harder to start than 2-strokes" Ronnie told me.

Mmmm OK, no problem (kick, kick, kick, kick, pant pant pant, repeat). "And NEVER give it gas while you start it" Uh oh.....Ronnie grabbed the bike and quickly bump started it for me. For some reason, this works when the bike is flooded...He gave me another piece of sage advice "Always stop on hill when you can" Ronnie then showed me the Hot-start lever...."Always use this when you start the engine hot"

I'm not gonna say starting this thing is easy, but once you get used to the idiocycracies of the procedures, it's not that bad..

Isn't she beautiful???

I was really enjoying the predicable power of the 4 stroke and was looking forward to seeing how I would do with the 250 on the track. Ronnie seemed very pleased with how I was looking on the bike and basically cut me loose on the practice track while he worked with Gman.

I was throwing the bike around pretty good! I was still being a wus on the jumps, but I was already doing things I couldn't get my 2stroke super-mini to do...the longer wheelbase was tougher in corners, but it powered through mud and ruts better than any mini could dream of...

I was pretty much just trying to keep from killing myself, but Gman was doing really great! Here he attacks this table and gets through the next left-hander smoothly...That's me at the end

Gman pins the TW around a left-hand turn and slingshots right over the double! I'm jealose

All good things come to an end and 3:00pm came quickly.....I found out that both bike do indeed fit with just a bit of imagination....we hit no traffic and made it home with time to power wash the bikes...
