Marathon Day 09!
One of my favorite yearly events, the NYC Marathon came by today. Perfect day for it, 55, overcast, great running weather.
The wheelchairs started coming past around 9 or so. I didn't get any good pics from my window but managed to pop outside just in time to see Mayor Bloomberg go by in a neat Olds convertible limo. ![]() He was led by the female elites and followed by the male elites ![]() the guy with the USA shirt went on to win with a time of 2hrs and 8 minutes or something like that. Americans finished 1st and 4th i believe for the men, womens was won by a Brit who had won the last two years. ![]() more elites ![]() elite coffee ![]() these guys kicked in right as the masses started coming and kept going till the last stragglers. they only had about 6 songs but sounded something like beastie boys meets metallica ![]() things start to get crowded ![]() halloween spirit. lots of good costumes today ![]() it is this dense for 2 solid hours, i can watch from my window or from the street, but the street is a lot more fun ![]() as i sat with my coffee mug i couldn't stop thinking about that Seinfeld episode, but don't worry, i didn't coffee any poor runner. ![]() good job runners!

I ran it when I was 16; in 1986. I was lucky enough to be pulled from the lottery.

I'd like to do one just for fun. My mom was a competitive marathon runner in the 80s and would get a kick out of it. I'll start with a 1/2 marathon this winter and see how it goes.
