I am allways amazed when I have 6 people in this car.

I bought my wife one this Spring because she wanted to be able to haul 6 folks occasionally and I wanted something that got better mileage than a minivan.

It's a very flexible, well built vehicle for the money. There is nothing on the market like it. My only gripes? The sun visors are too small, the front seats need outside armrests, and it's noisy. (That might be the tires) And I think the mileage could be better. This class of vehicles is very popular in other parts of the world, and the diesels regularly get over 40 mpg. The best we've gotten in our Mazda is 32mpg. Average is ~25. Not bad, but not great.

My wife loves it.

Yep, ended up with a rental one in germany a few years ago. 4-cyl turbo diesel with a 6-speed manual, in a freaking mini van. I was pleasantly surprised. It was s-l-o-w, but handled ok, the manual trans was kinda fun, too bad it topped out at just over 160km/h on the 'bahn.

Mazda gets a facelift this year, and Ford owns Mazda. Or at least a big part of it.

I'm guessing it's the same car with different cosmetics and trim levels.

Looks better than the new 5. But, unlike the 5, I bet it won't come with a stick.

Ford owns 11% of Mazda and it's declining.

Thumb

The car we had the whole time I was growing up was like this:

1967 Dodge Coronet 440 wagon. Ours was dark green and had full wheel covers.
It was lovingly refered to as 'The Dodge' and has made me a lifelong fan of station wagons as well.
