The 21 bike group ride.....

Well, this ride started with a post of expressions of interest to see if I could recover from my disastrous last ride. The main theme, to have people along to share a great ride with. After a lot of interest, a route was organized and starting time and place was settled.

My ride began with heading to Kenilworth rather early to meet up with a couple of fellow Stromers. We headed through Sunday Creek Road which was particularly rocky and met up with part of the crew at the Jimna fire tower.

Our then three bikes very quickly became a 16 strong bike brigade! Two of the riders decided to head to Murgon a different route and meet us there. With such a big group, this was not going to be a bad thing at all.

Up through the Kilcoy Murgon road we made great time and were in Murgon for a quick stop in no time. Waiting for a while for the others who went a different direction we soon realized that they were going to be a fair way behind us, so we headed on to Hivesville for our last drops of fuel before the big stretch of 300ks without any fuel/towns etc.

At this point, I must say, I don’t have a whole lot of photos as I was busy organizing things and having a blast riding, the others in the group have a good amount though and will be shared in this thread soon.

Once we got to Hivesville we realized that we were missing a few of the crew and our sweep, after farting around and me heading back to Murgon and then back to Hivesville again (70odd ks) we finally all re-grouped after just a series of minor errors which separated the group. So our group now consisted of 18. Four of which decided to peel off and head a different way, which again, was fine as it was big numbers to try to keep together, turns out, they went nearly the same way at the start, but then got lost and had a long haul on the slab to Taroom and only got there 10mins before us.

It was fantastic riding all through Allies Creek, Auburn Station and Cockatoo with awesome roads, great scenery and great company.

We got into Taroom, like I had promised, before 5pm. Fueled the bikes up ready for the morning, set up camp and headed to the pub for a meal, drinks and great company. Everyone retired rather early due to a big days riding with most people putting in a solid 700ks for the day.

Day two had everyone was up early, packed up and in town for some breaky. Our now 21 strong battalion departed at 8am we departed, heading east toward Mundubbera. Again, fantastic roads, great scenery and great riding. Jarred, our sweep from day one, was the first casualty with a puncture. Three of the group decided to start hooking home as they had family duties etc.

The rest of the crew enjoyed magnificent roads all they way to Mundubbera with only two minor offs from the legendary ladies who participated in the ride.

From Mundubbera came my favourite bit of road, that has been for a long time. The Gaynda – Hivesville road, great sweeping corners, dipping and weaving all over the place.

A re-group and bite to eat in Murgon and we were on our way again. People were peeling off in different directions every time we stopped, heading back their directions. We stopped along the Murgon – Kilcoy road and farewelled the others while the three Strom riders from the coast made our way back toward Gympie. What a fantastic way to end the weekend too! The road across the range and back down to Gympie was a PEARLER!!!!

Getting home before 5 I had time to reflect on the ride. Fantastic company, fantastic riding and a great weekend had by all, what more could you ask for. That and 21 BIKES all from one little post on the internet, great stuff!

For the others from the ride, please post up all of your pics here, I will post up the things from the other thread for you, but if anyone hasn’t shared yet, please do. If anyone wants any full resolution pics, just PM the owner and ask cause there are some great pics in amongst the bunch.

Hi Guys,
It's Jeremy here I just joined the forum and I was on this ride with the black DRZ and tagged along with Trev.

This was my first adventure ride and I had an awesome time (even though I only rode the Sunday).

I'm an absolute noobie with almost no riding experience, my last bike was an 83 CR80 when I was in high school (no I never raced it either, just bush bashed), so I didn't really know what to expect.

Due to work committments by the time this ride was over I had been awake for about 28hrs but was having way too much fun to feel tired.

Thankyou to all for making me feel welcome and showing me what it's all about. I can safely say that I'm hooked.

Apparently I picked a cracker of a ride to go on for my first adv ride so I hope there's plenty more of these.

Cheers all and thanks again.
