I've seen that done but don't know much about it. I presume it's for cooling. What if it rains? Overall what are the advantages / disadvantages?

Yeah it's mainly done for cooling. If it rains it really doesn't bother it, it requires direct high pressure from a car wash to make the clutch start to grab. When that happens you just slip the clutch little bit and it will fix itself. Plus you get a cool Ducati dry clutch sound.

Haha I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow and if you like it I'll con dad into machining yours whenever you're gone on another trip.

No kidding. First time I ever heard one was on a 996. I thought "mortal hell that guy has thrown a rod, holed a piston, and spun a bearing all at the same time."

It really does sound like 738 assorted nuts and washers in a dryer.

Here's the picture Joey. Dad reminded me that another reason we did this was because the solid cover allows condensation to form inside and rust the clutch springs.

Although I have to say that I would chip in if we all wanted to rent Augie a tux. THAT I'd like to see!
I'm offended by that remark!! I think I look really nice in a tux and tails, and my harley classic is a true gentlemans
bike.

The new bikes aren't as bad. Just take the cover off and fire it up.

Finally got out to civilization and thought I would give an update.
All thru with surgerys and on the road to a long, slow recovery. 2 plates 7 screws the first go round. Skin graft the second. Doc said Oct before I could even begin to think about work. DAMN!!
Will try to make the next eat. Really looking forward to it. See yaw there.
Thanks for all of the well wishes.

Nice to hear from you Larry. If you're able to make it to the next eat leave your money at home.
