This looks like it might be it, but doesn't say anything about a fund.

Wow, be very careful out there, and don't try to look up motorcycle fatalities in Charlotte.

Tragic , Matt Anderson was killed last week when a driver turned left right in front of him in Charlotte... 31 years old, married 1 child and wife is due in February. The family has a education donation instead of sending flowers for anyone that is interested...[/QUOTE]

Sorry, Andrews... Don't think he was on here...
I always want to know the circumstances around any bike accident. As we know lots of times we read "high rate of speed with alcohol" or wreckless driving etc... This was just a driver who didn't see the rider... I always try to ride like the next car is going to hit me, especially with everyone looking at their cell phones... I have LED strobes on the front as well that have made the biggest difference in Charlotte traffic. Bought 2 of them and hooked them on the turn signal stalks, from performance bike... For bicycles... 8 hr burn time... Cops have not said anything yet....

Introduction!

Hi all!

I've been onto ADV for over a year now, but just recently in the past 2 weeks realized there is these regional threads and found the Charlotte group.

I've been out here lurking, enjoying this.

My wife and I are in the 5th year of our 2 year plan to build a new place in the country near Sharon S.C.. Up to this point we have done everything ourselves, clearing, grading, road etc.. We hired a contractor a few weeks ago to do our new house, turn key we just write checks. I hope to have more time now to ride.

I picked up a XR650l last year and have been enjoying getting back into riding some dirt. Nothing too challenging, but having fun. Last year a buddy and I did 5 days on the TAT and simply had a blast. I have a few street bikes, many trips have gone by, many trips west etc. However really enjoying the dirt now.

I may come join you all sometime.

I have spent a little time mapping out a dual sport route around western york county. Nothing awesome, but some nice paved and dirt roads in a loop from our new place looping back. I may invite you all to come explore sometime this summer.

L.

Dang, we are all pretty close. I currently live in Rock Hill.

I've found one pretty challenging road in York county, starts out paved and then just turns to unmaintained road, deep ruts, mud holes, grass in the middle etc.. only goes about 1 mile in but it is a fun mile.

Have any of you been on Turkey Creek Ridge Road?

L.

Welcome Lloyd, I'd love to go with you as well down there in York. I'm in Mint Hill. We are having our monthly meet at Hawthornes next Thursday at 6pm. Come on up if you can. It's off 7th street. Details in post #1.

Think street tires on a 500 pound triple that 'looks' like a dirt bike.

Willing to take a look anyway. Bring your lifting gloves with you.

I knew that sounded familiar! My very first ride tooling about on my Tiger in Feb. '13 I went down that road, and shamelessly turned around. I was stopped by a giant mud puddle I didn't want to take my bike through on my first day riding it, probably had 50 miles on it here.

The tracks of shame...
