Sounds like I've been missing some good stuff! Work's been nuts and I haven't been around much lately but hopefully things will calm soon. I need to get out and ride!

Thought I'd check in from Tucson, Arizona..

I left Charlotte on schedule Saturday morning, made my way to Montgomery, AL that afternoon and then on to New Orleans on Sunday. My buddy arrived New Orleans Monday evening, we pigged out on seafood and then got some sleep in anticipation of an early start on Tuesday.

After leaving New Orleans we stopped off in Lake Charles, LA to see my friends friend, recovering from a wreck on his GoldWing. Nothing like a hospital visit in the middle of a motorcycle trip to visit a guy who broke one ankle, the other leg, cracked some ribs, bruised a lung and fractured his neck in a MOTORCYCLE wreck.

In any case we then made our way to a little town north of San Antonio, spent the night there and then spent Wednesday riding the Texas hill country.

Today was a little bit of twisties and then slab slab slab, with a bunch of crosswind and a couple of dust storms thrown in. In the morning I head for California, and then Saturday morning it's into Mexico.

I am loving this! I may have a chance to check in again from Mexico, and I'll be breaking out the camera then as well.

Not meaning on hijacking this thread. I have only been to one of the dinners since I moved to the area this past October. My work has changed so I should be able to come out more often.
Now. To the question at hand. Any locals here have experience working on a 96 R1100RT. I HAVE taken the task of replacing the clutch. Anybody has an advice.

Quick check-in from Loreto, Baja California Sur....

Been some amazing riding so far! Wish I had my DR along to check out the millions of wide-open trails that run all over the place.

So far I've gotten to meet: Bruce Meyers, the inventor of the Meyers Manx that spawned the whole dune buggy genre and helped kick-start the off-road racing world as we know it; Vic Wilson, who won the very first Baja 1000; Darren Skilton, a 7-time Dakar competitor; as well as Walker Evans and Robbie Gordon.

I've taken a few pics and will have to get those uploaded when I get back, as decent internet is pretty hard to come by.

Off to La Paz today and Cabo tomorrow!

If some of you guys ever feel like riding up towards Boone I'd be happy to show you some of the great back roads I've found around here. Just went on a great ride yesterday all around Watauga Lake, towards Roan Mtn, and back over the mountains via Buck Mtn rd, Walnut Mtn rd, Poga rd, ect. & back home to Sugar Grove. Check it out on google maps. Perfect dual sporting. Lot of fun backroads only the locals know.

Btw, I'm working on a set of sumo wheels for the WR450.

Is there room for two more on the 17th? My wife and I just moved to the area and are looking to gain some local knowledge.

New to area/May Meet-up

Hey Group,
New to the area (Lake Norman/Mooresville/Sherrills Ford, NC). Is the meet-up (at Hawthorns on 7th on May 17 at 6pm) just a meetup, get to know and hangout? Or a ride, eat, drink? If it's a meetup it only requires me to oil the chain. If it's a ride, then I need cash, some Seafoam, a new chain and sprocket and a rear with tread. Just asking.
