A short adventure on the TAT

A few pictures from the Tennessee section of the TAT. A friend and myself recently packed up our old bikes and went on a little adventure. My friend is on his 1972 RT2 360 and Im on my 1976 DT400C.

Loading up and starting off from the Jellico Days Inn.

First night at the Cumberland Mountain State Park campground.

Pictures from along the trail.

We stayed at the Royal Inn in Sparta. The trail passes by here. Good place to stop. Convenient food and gas. We turned around here and back tracked the trail to Jellico.

Had a great time last night - thanks to all for coming out.

We had, I think, ten of us at one point maybe? Including of course the guy who was just riding by on his K100, saw our bikes and stopped in to see what was going on. Hopefully he'll tune in to ADV and become a regular.

John & John - I'm serious about that three-and-a-half day run to Canada and back. I'll scope out some routes and be in touch. I'm thinking mid-to-late July...

Keith - I'm going to try and make this. I'll drop you a note when I figure out what time I'd be up there.

I was planning on going a little earlier.... keep an eye out for a 650L in the parking lot.

I need to go early because a town close to us (Faith NC) is having a "street dance" tonight and my Wife is really looking forward to it. From what I understand many years ago they used to do this on a regular basis. They would shut down the main street and have live bands and the local businesses stay open later like a "block party" I guess. People started complaining about the road being closed so they stopped doing it. The new Mayor has decided to give it another try, so we will see how it goes.

I was there around 2 and almost everyone had already taken off. There was a great Guzzi eldorado though. May have passed an ADV'r on a silver RT on my way there. I was on a black sportster.

Yep. I got there about 4:20 and even the hot dog vendor was packing up. In fact, he's the one that told me the turnout was very low and everybody went home early.
