Hmmm. Whereabouts? You talking a street ride or a dual-sport ride?

Forecast for Wednesday is 99 degrees with T-Storms. But I bet the early-morning-to-mid-morning time slot will be pleasant. So whatever is decided, I'd say we start plenty early.

I have a DR650 and an R1200RT. They both need a little exercisin'. What do you ride?

Anybody else want to get out on Wednesday early morning? Ken? Evan? Boike333?

This means that Ken is interested. And Ken has a DR650 so that means we're looking at a dualsport ride. Ken lives South of Ballantyne somewhere and I live Southwest of Charlotte in the Steel Creek area. So options include down around Lake Wylie where Boike333 knows a bunch of places, or closer to Ken's house where he and I went riding the first time we hooked up.

So now we just need to finalize a place and agree on how early we can meet.

I think...

Guys I would love to go ride but I had a bike failure so please see if you can help. I was riding along at 50 mph and the chain guide suddenly snapped loose, yanked the chain off rear sprocket, and bunched it under the front sprocket. Have no idea why this happened, but it looks like I am taking it to a shop to have it looked at......so if anyone has a suggestion for a shop or why this might have happened please let me know. And Ken should have most of my trails on his GPS...... So happy riding for those who get to go

Sorry to hear about this. If you decide to tackle it yourself and want a helping hand, I'll gladly chip in with my measly wrenchin' skills.

Awesome! So there could be 4 or maybe 5 of us. Boike's trails are in the vicinity of where Route 49 (S. Tryon) runs across Lake Wylie. If Ken's got 'em on his GPS then I'll suggest we go there.

A good place to meet is right around where S. Tryon crosses 485. There's an IHOP in the Walmart / Lowe's shopping center on S. Tryon, just on the North side of 485.

Anybody who wants to meet for breakfast be there at 8:00 and we'll get the ride started with a "Gear Up" time of 9:00 AM. That should give us a good long ride before the heat really kicks in...

Ken - does this work for you? Without your GPS I would have NO CLUE as to where the good riding is!

I beleive I have some of Matt's stuff on GPS but I'm pretty sure I don't have the newest stuff since I've had a GPS meltdown since then. The stuff I have...if I can find it is probably an hour or so worth of trails if I remember right.

Another option would be to slab it up to the mountains early in the AM, ride some shady gravel in the cooler mountain temps and then high tail it back later in the afternoon.....just depends on how long everyone wants to stay out and how far you want to go.

I'll do either but would probably prefer to head north since I don't have anything to do for most of the day.

Keith.....where you hiding?

How technical are the trails around route 49? I'd love to ride with y'all but I'm still new to riding. Had my KLR for about 4 months now.

I might take you up on that, whats got me stumped though is that it looks like the screws that held the chain guide into the swingarm look like they were pretty much ripped right out, meaning there are no threads left??????? What do you do with that, because if you rethread it the replacement part is not going to thread into it, right?

As far as trails go, ride into the palisades off 49 and just go down any gravel roads you can find, and don't miss the trail behind the pump station about a mile in on the left. Most of the rest of what I ride is the power lines down 274 by the water tower...good luck
