I've got 500 questions to ask , so I hope there are some who aren't wrapped up too heavily in the movie. I haven't had a dirt bike in 20 years, so I have alot of catching up to do....I'll ask all the silly newbie questions like "What tires are the best"

Always glad to help out a newb, lots of folks from this group helped me out immensely very recently when I made the addition of a dual sport.

Just let us know what type of riding you're looking to do (singletrack, ADV touring, both??) & where you want to ride - really helps isolate which bikes would fit your needs.

I had 9 dirt bikes along the way, but it was 1985 or so when I sold the last one. The last 4 bikes have been street bikes, ( one RZ350, and 3 Honda 750 VFR's ). I'm in the process of buying bike # 14, but won't have it street legal or ready till sometime in May. Planning on doing some group rides ( would love to do the Screamin Beaver ???) run the 1st of May but the bike won't be ready by then, and some mild trail riding, would love to go to Brushy Mountain, Brown Mountain, and down to Urawharie.

I'm looking forward to it all. And it's always fun to meet new people along the way.

You'll meet the right folks Thursday for sure...!

I get there about 5:30 or 5:45. Most folks show up between 6 and 6:30. We usually run about a dozen people or more. Once it gets warm enough a lot of people will ride instead of drive - the first meet-up was in November but it was warm and we had 8 or 9 bikes there.

Nothing too "mild" at Brushy or Uwharrie or really Brown for that matter. You can take a big heavy bike through (parts of) them, but it's actually fun on a dual sport/"legal dirt bike" - as you've likely already experienced w/ your past dirt bikes!

Cool.... I had a pretty good variety of dirt bikes in the past.

Montesa 125 VA motocross
Montesa 360 VB motocross
Montesa 247 Cota trials
Honda MT 250 dual purpose ( my first bike )
Yamaha MX 400 B motocross
Honda XL500 dual purpose

man, my memory is fading, forgot some of them already

Anyway...is the food good down there?

Yep, seems like most grab a small/personal pizza and drink, not too much $$ and very, very good!

Here's their menu: http://www.hawthornespizza.com/image...menus/menu.pdf

Had a blast last night at Hawthornes, food was good, company was even better, good to meet new friends, and "On Any Sunday" was a hit...again.

Thursday saw another good turn out at Hawthorne's! We seem to always get around 13 or 14 folks, even though the actual participants change a little from month to month.

Next meet-up is Thursday, March 18th. Same place, same time.

I won't make the March meeting myself, as I have a family vacation that week (have to plan that around the kid's Spring Break from college). So there won't be a movie in March.

For April, I'm thinking we screen the DVD "Dust to Glory"....?

Thanks to all who participated!
