Speed triple!

Bought a new speed triple. Other than a (NEW) harsh suspension whats not to like? Great power, good ergos, corners well, looks great??? Dare I say it would make a good touring bike if set up correctly. The sound at 6 grand is worth the $ alone.. Passing a new R1 on the outside, priceless...

I certainly still love mine, although it may go next year for something new and shiny.

I had an '06 Speed Triple a couple of years ago that i sold when i bought my FJR to tour on. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I wound up with another s3 in my garage...Triples spoiled me for other motors.

if the rear subframe could handle luggage then it would make a great tourer...its pretty much the only reason i didnt get the S3 and bought the FZ1 instead ...i still think someday i'll buy one though

there's quite a few luggage options, but you might need to switch pipes to a low mount. the main reason I switched to the FJR was the bigger tank on the Yammie... Now that I've made a coouple trips out west and i know i wouldn't have to continually eye the gas guage, I think the s3 would make a great touring bike...just add a center stand.

Actually SW-MoTech makes a topcase rack for the Speed Triple which a Givi topcase can be mounted to.

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/4585/243/

Works with the stock pipes and *probably* most aftermarket pipes.

if u go to triumphrat.net u see a lot of S3 guys there too....they had an issue with cracking subframes from over loaded luggage racks but as long as u keep most of the heavy stuff on the rear seat u should be good to go

If you do a little more research into the subframe cracking thing, you'll discover that it happened for obvious reasons. The old SW Motec rack attached ONLY to the 4 bolt holes under the seat and was loaded with a Givi top case. The constant flexing fatigued the aluminum until it just became brittle and cracked.

This rack has since been redesigned to incorporate more support using thick tubing which attaches to the passenger peg mounts. It's way more solid. I could lift the rear of the bike by the rack.

The '08+ bikes also have redesigned subframes. Stronger? idk.

I've got a pic of my S3 fully loaded that I'll post up later tonight.
