I have toured on both Speed Triple and Street Triple. Both of them are a blast.

They are Pelican 1430 top loader cases. The bracket is supported at the front via the exhaust hangars off the frame. At the rear, by a SW-Motech rack.

I have a v2 planned that's a little more elegant and doesn't use the rack for the rear support. This was a bit of a rush job to get them mounted...

Yep bought my a couple of weeks ago. Due to work I have had very little time to ride it yet. Perfect stable-mate to my R1200GSA-Adv. Only have 177 miles on it but more coming

Did a Coast to Coast (Boston - LA - SF) in 2011 with my "09 Speed Triple.

No problems. Bike would not work too well if you are on the highway doing 80 for hours each day. But on the byways we took... I would ride it again without a second thought. I have the little spoiler that deflects the wind.

20 Liter Kriega (US20) on back seat and a large Triumph tank bag held all I needed for 12 days. And a 1 liter spare fuel bottle. (Which I never needed to use)

Here's over a weeks worth of stuff at the Crash site that took Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper from us. The Kriega stuff is the way to go! Oh yeah, it makes a great adventure bike...

My room mate and I did a 700 mile weekend into the Seqoia's last year, about 20 miles of it highway. Me on the S3 and room mate on the 599.
The S3 is a perfectly fine sport touring rig minus the fact that it kind of locks you into one position. Even me at 6'3 - even with rear sets I was pretty dammed comfortable the entire time. It was certainly better than the SV1000 I had before in pretty much every way. I didnt bring bags because I went super minimal - change of underwear and over pants for cold is pretty much all I brought.

was it all worth it? Are you kidding? Bet your sweet ass it was worth every moment

Just because you cant bring a lot doesnt mean you cant tour this bike. We're bikers, not RV people. Just bring less.....enjoy more.

I could have easily put on softbags and had more stuff with me but what's the point? It aint a dammed GS for crying out loud. That's why there are GS'es!

Isn't that the way with bikes.
I might take you up on that offer, since yeah I'm just a couple miles up the road. Trust me when I say that as soon as I'm able I'll there's gonna be a Speedy (or MAYBE a street) in my garage.
