Thanks...

@oldmotors
our plan was to do this trip on a low-budget level. The costs were about 1100 €. Hotels only if itīs necessary, more food from the market than from the restaurant,...

@A-Wind
Yes, we had a lot fun in the sand. As I found out the stuff was also inside the engine - thats why i needed nearly 2 litres of oil from Geneva to Munich

@ Fitze

Any tips'n'tricks regarding Morocco are appreciated I've been there 20 years ago with my parents in an old Landrover, but I'm sure many things changed in the meantime.

Cheers, Andy

...being back in the game...

The next route is from Tataouine to Matmata. I didnīt know how this bike will be on gravel in the actual set-up (a shitty and bend one).

We started early in the morning from our beloved garage

... and soon after we left Tataouine

After this shot I told Mr. White, that going off road isnīt anymore. His face got longer and longer...

AAAAAHHHH - DINOSAURS!!!

Mr. White in action

HA! YOU AGAIN!

This is Beni Keddache, the village were we hired the Pick Up to Tataouine a few days ago. In this bar we paid 0,40 € for one coffee and one coke.

Ok, ok I should have known it... Sure we were driving gravel again, though it took a few kilometres to get used to an uptight fork...

the Dahar

In this olive grove we had lunch. Most impressive was the total silence there.

On we go

Nice view - on the horizon you see the Mediterranean Sea

Last look to the desert direction. From now on it was surviving the tourist traps...

This is one of the cave-hotels. They appeared in STAR WARS too.

After this pic above we fled into a hotel. Everyone was trying to sell you something, wanted money as a gift, yelling at you to follow in this or that hotel.
Believe me after two weeks in the desert, this is the worstīn first encounter with the human race. We were relaxed when the gate of the hotel was closing behind us.

The hallway to our room

...to the holy city...

There were nothing else to explore in Matmata for us, so we headed to Kairouan - one of the four holy cities in Islam. This is our track

On our way we recocnized that in some villages there were app. 20 restaurants with barbecues in the front. You could pick a sheep (that was hanging beneath) and buy meat by weight. Guaranteed fresh - look closely under the canopy of the shop. We sat in the middle of three sheep and had a drink. First time where there were no flies around us - take a wild guess where they were...

An old water basin in Kairouan

Some impressions of Kairouan

A weaving loom

Hah! Another holy thing. The dromedaire was walking in circles for raising the water from the well. We were asked to drink some of it... NO WAY !!!

The mosque of the three doors - left door for women, right door for men, middle door for the Imam.

Above the doors you can read when men and women have to work (men afternoon - women morning) and what (men blankets - women carpets)

Another door

the great mosque of Kairouan

This graveyard is from one familiy - a guy, his 14 wives and all their offspring
