Definitely, but you will spend some good $$ on the top end. It likely needs a new cam and rocker arms (Less likely is piston\rings\bore as Squirrels has suggested.)

Figure $200 for cams\rocker arms, but that could swell to $500 if it needs 'the works' (Piston, rings, valves, cam, rocker arms, gaskets, and machine work)

You'll also need to figure out *why* the top end went bad.

Could get lucky and just have a timing chain issue, or someone who doesn't know what thumpers sound like.

(Also who cares about Dan Hall when we have RB Designs?????)

All I want to know about those XRs is "does it have the magic button?"

If I have to kick it, I may as well kick it to the curb.

-Unless it has six horsepower or less.

Edit:

Or what ^^he^^ said.

Bummer, I haven't done business with them for years, but they used to be the shit when it came to building hi-pro import engines......................they built the 1600 for my old 66 "Ratsun" P/U..............240Z pistons, SSS head and cam plus lots of bolt on goodies...............used to get 3rd gear scratches with little truck

2007 suzuki V Storm 1000 - $2500

FINALLY. It only took 6 months, but I knew eventually I would see a V-Strom that was a better deal than my DL650...

I just didn't think it would be a 1000.

That is a hell of a good deal. I'll have to assume it has 80k+ on it or something.

Good point. I just jumped to conclusions because I've seen so many cheap, older non-FI DL1ks. I guess $2500 for a 2007 is definitely 'too good to be true.'

Most likely a scam, at least that was my first impression when I saw it the other day. It is in the correct price range. There are lots of items in the 2,500-3,500$ range that are to good to be true, from the the 2001 loaded siverado truck, 2009 Polaris 4 wheeler, even a 2002 super chromed out "custom" Harley, that when more info is requested, it turns out that you have to pay before you can inspect the vehicle in person. Scammers make me
