That's a good piece of journalism. Lengthy, but good.
If only the story itself wasn't so disturbing....

Anyone want to pay $3500 for a 20 year old XR250?

Well today is your lucky day. (It is a pretty sweet XR though)

That is a sweet bike, but way too much $$$. Looks like the guy is trying to get his money back for the aftermarket parts, not what the actual bike is worth. I only paid $1,500 for my 20 year old XR650 last year.

You might want to post that somewhere on this site where it will have a bigger audience. That's interesting as hell.

I believe I know this guy, judging by the bike(s) and the location. He's an awesome guy, with LOTS (read; LOTS) of old bikes, especially 2 strokes. I think I've bought about 10 bikes from him in the last few years!

No key, no seat, probably doesn't run. Yep, I'll ask $725.

I was given a 750 triple like that some years ago.

The carbs were in a box, and the bike had been sitting out in the (coastal) weather for several years. It looked like Hell! Didn't even have rags stuffed in the carb intakes.

my buddy dropped the carbs in his solvent tank overnight, washed the bike, went over all the wiring and lubed everything up. Next morning he disassembled the carbs, cleaned 'em and put them back together (he did have to replace the jets...they crumbled in his finger tips).

we were doing wheelies on it later on that SAME afternoon!!!

I threw a quick paintjob on it, and we sold it a week later for a tidy little profit!! $$$

great bikes!!
