How to get a $300 dollar ticket off road in SW Florida

My first father-son "adventure ride" was the most expensive one. Sometime in Aug 2006, Collier County, FL.

Caution: portions of this ride are illegal for motorcycles, but it is a beautiful area of S. Florida. Go to http://www.collierappraiser.com to access high resolution GIS maps of Collier County

they were brand new then:

The only hill in hundreds of square miles...

Crossing our first ever puddle:

total of $300 tickets for using tax payer financed dirt roads without permission from Leviathan...

Beautiful Ride Photos, such a shame that your day was disturbed by the long arm of the law.
Very Sad that Rangers have Guns & Ticket Books.

They used to be useful & and an asset to the outdoors.

Where was this? I can't quite tell from the map. A couple of the pics look like Jane's Scenic Drive through the Fakahatchee, but I don't recognize the others. Bummer on the tickets. Was anything posted?

You need to look into the law a bit more regarding the illegailty of motorcycles on these roads.

Some things to consider, are cars allowed on these roads?
Your motorcycles are street legal and registered as such and not off road types so they should be legal on all roads where cars are legal unless otherwise posted.

Are these county roads? Are they ID'ed as such on maps or GPS?
If so, that can add to your case

Exactly what did the officer cite you for?

Take a hint and move out of that god-forsaken state if you can. Give Colorado, Utah, Idaho or even California or Mexico a try.

I had the thought that it was a corporation name or similar.

"Big Brother" tightens the noose by the day.

In Monroe County (Fl. Keys which i just moved out of for MANY reasons, this is just one)
If the "officer" determines (for any reason) you are operating the bike in an "unsafe manner" you can be stopped, ticketed and the bike impounded.

Sorry but that is WAAAAAY to freakin broad brush for me.....WTF is "unsafe manner". ANd unsafe to who? Supposedly if you stand on the pegs....say avoiding the bone jarring from a pothole you couldn't avoid cause some asshat hungover tourist is crowding your lane while snapping photos of palm trees or water through his sunroof while driving.......and Johnny LAw has a hard on that day........you lose your bike. Also if you do not keep both hands on the bars AT ALL TIMES you can be cited. Don't even think about passing on the right/shoulder or lane splitting or any of the fun ya'll have out on the west coast....they will put you under the jail!

Back up in the Panhandle now....where roads are dirt and highways have curves, and hills and very little traffic....... ANd my annual property tax is the same as 2 mths property tax pmt. in the Keys......and don't even get me started on insurance differences.........I'm a happy Boy

The Keys suck. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Stay away. The redneck riviera is much nicer with hills and stuff.

You would think maybe a warning might be in order, $300 is steep.

In any event, it's nice to see a father-son ride.

Thanks for sharing.........

Sorry to hear of your troubles. It looks like you were in a working limerock Quarry. The huge mineral and phosphate Co's down here don't want outsiders on their property seeing firsthand the damage they do.Standard procedure is for them to work out their property holdings then file bankruptcy and leave the state or country(most are owned by multinational Corps) leaving taxpayers holding the bag for cleanup and restoration.

Google Earth Polk,Hillsborough and Hardee counties just east of Tampa and see the damage they have done to our once beautiful wetlands and prairies.

These huge Co's are large contributors to the political parties so it's just business as usual down here in Flori-DUH!
