Well the launch is scheduled between now and the 10th of July, so if it rains tonight it will be off.

The countdown has started for the launch of the U.S. Air Force Minotaur 1 carrying the Opperationally Responsive Space Office's ORS-1 satellite. Targeted launch time is 8:28 with a window running until 11:28 p.m. At this time the NASA range is is checking out the support systems including radar and telemetry. The weather is being carefully watched. Our next weather briefing is 2:30 p.m. EDT

And for those afficionados who cannot make it, like myself, live feed here:

Started to head South to grab Delmar Tag but ran into heavy showers which turned me West to Caroline Co.

Old drop by CC.

Caroline Co. has more dirt roads than a few. I hit about six of 'em. Pretty good unless one of them Wild-Ass Country boys is coming from the opposite direction.

Dirt roads are good for "nature visits".

Where civilization ends.

If any of you DDB's are available ride'n, eat'n, drink'n from PM on Thur. to AM on Mon. give me a shout. My calendar is open...

Well the launch is a no-go for tonight :

Posted by RCC on 2011-06-28 at 17:38:53 EDT
The launch attempt tonight of the Minotaur 1 rocket has been scrubbed because of thunderstorms in the area. The mission has been rescheduled for Jun 29 between 8:28 and 11:28 p.m. The backup days are June 30 through July 10. The webcast will begin at 1:30 p.m.

We had a nice ride last night. Badcold, SneakyB, Hack and myself were all loaded up to head to Wallops Island to see the rocket launch. Luckily, I thought to call the launch hotline at 6:30 and found out it was scrubbed for last night.

So we headed for the Delmar tag. Nice ride on backroads from the beach to Laurel but slabbed it up Rt13 to the tag. Then a nice break on some back roads. I think we need it to be a requirement for Hack to bring the trailer each ride...we had everything we needed and then some.

We didn't get wet but saw some heat lightning in the distance.

Nice ride. SneakyB even got his new ride a little dirty. We took him on one of our favorite backroads between Dagsboro and Millsboro not knowing they had just laid some fresh gravel/stone. Ooops. Or did we we??

OK, Hack and I are off to the other side of the bridge to meet up with WayneJ for the day. No rocket launch for us tonight.

It was a great ride! Nice to meet you all. Turns out that BadCold lives less than 1/2 mile from me. Small world, eh?

Now we just have to wait for a Northerner to fetch the Delmar tag...

Rocket Launch

Launch appears to be on schedule for tonight:

Posted by RCC on 2011-06-29 at 17:28:09 EDT
T-3 hours and counting. Launch team has just completed launch vehicle checks. One issue continues to be worked -- support equipment power up associated with the spacecraft.

Click the link:

... then: "view launch" button in the Webcast Stream Control area and you can see the launch pad.

DDBs on the wrong side of the bridge.

Look who showed up in Davidsonville this morning.

As promised, I showed them a few of southern AA County's less traveled roads.

Then lunch in Calvert Co. at Thursday's, North Beach.

I had my old Wee back for a couple of days, so I rode it today.

I will probably ride to OC in 2 or 3 weeks for a day trip. We'll have to meet for lunch.
