Good news:
1. I got the front fork pretty much straightened out. It is definitely good enough to putz around on until I get the fork tube repaired. 2. I don't actually need a new mirror - only the bracket broke. I have a new bracket ordered, ETA 3 days. 3. I've used electrical tape to put my turn signal stalk back together. It looks a little flaccid but it works (for now). Bad news: 1. It looks like I did bend the fork tube a bit. It will need to be swapped or straightened on a press. 2. The headlamp bracket is cracked. I assumed that it was made of metal - like the rest of the chrome pieces on this bike - but it is actually plastic that has become brittle. I need a new bracket for the lamp, but the OEM replacements costs almost $100. Any ideas on how to attach a cruiser headlight? Maybe there is a cheapo Harley solution. 3. I can't find a replacement OEM peg. I'd like to keep OEM so that the front pegs still match the rear pegs. 4. I can't find a used gas tank in good condition. New ones go for $600 - far too expensive for me to afford. At any rate, the bike runs. I'll call the local shops to see who can press my fork straight for a reasonable price, and hopefully I can drop it off and have it back by next weekend. That is the plan. |

I will have to formulate a plan. I should know what is going on in the next few hours. If everything falls into place I should have a big part of the day to my self tomorrow. Any suggestions for a breakfast place?

How about ChesDel Diner on Rt 13 just south of the bridge at 8:00. From there we hit the canal and have some fun. I'll be pulling out of the Smyrna Royal Farms at 7:30 to head up if anyone wants to ride up. If anyone else has any suggestions please feel free to speak up!

Had a nice breakfast and canal ride with the boys today.
Gary politely asks if I'm sure I want to go down this path. Why would he ask that? ![]() This is why....Tiger stuck on her belly. ![]() Some fun in the first sand pit. ![]() ![]() ![]() Deeper sand. Tom (the other Tom ![]() I, on the other hand, am not that quick. ![]() ![]() These two didn't seem to have any problems with the sand. ![]() Taking a break after all that sandyness. ![]() Had a great time riding with you guys today. Now it's time to go wash off all the dust....

I had a great time. The breakfast was tasty and the people were great. These guys complained of dust all day long, I didn't see any at the front of the line.
The sand pit was fun, but I'm not as young as I used to be. Of course the KLR is TRULY a GREAT sand bike !!!Had a great time and looking forward to the next one!!!! Gary
