May the best you’ve ever seen
Be the worst you’ll ever see;
May a moose ne’er leave yer girnal
Wi’ a teardrop in his e’e.
May ye aye keep hale and hearty
Till ye’re auld enough tae dee,
May ye aye be just as happy
As I wish ye aye tae be.
Scottish Toast.

Man, this Scottish Ale is good enough to make ya wear a kilt.

Hear that Chis....

Well, the bike is back together, but with the stock shock back in place until I save up for a Cogent or Penske unit. My own fault, I believed what I read on the internet! While the GSXR shock is a drop in, I did not research the spring rate differences between the gixxer and Bandit. Turns out that gixxer runs a 450 lb/in spring while the Bandit uses and 800 lb/in spring.

What the guys that are using the gixxer shock are doing is cranking the preload to the max just to get the right sag number. Unfortunately, this does nothing to change the fact that the spring rate is damn near half of what it should be. I could pick up a 750 or 800 lb/in spring, but I (and Dave at SW) do not feel that a shock that was designed for a spring in the 450 lb/in range could properly deal with a spring of almost twice the force. So, I have freshened up forks with slightly heavier springs (Race Tech 1.0 kg/mm) and hope to have a new rear shock by summer time.

lb/in, kg/mm...... make up your damn mind already. They've replaced our work crackberries with iphones. I haven't found the unit conversion app yet.

Any iphone users out there? Any good app suggestions?

I've been told that it's passe to wear your iphone in a holster. So where am I supposed to put it? My man purse?

Oh yeah... '02 GasGas TXT Pro, 280. A little bigger than what most recommend for a first bike, but it was a pretty good price, and other than being a little beat up (what I was looking for), it seems to be mechanically sound. So far all I've managed to do is ride in a circle at West Chester Cycle parking lot, and then again tonight in my driveway.

Not sure how long it will take me to start jumping up onto cars and over small boulders and streams like I keep seeing on YouTube?

I'll keep everyone posted and make sure I'm being filmed when I start doing stupid stuff.

And Tom... Bring it on. I'll be on it for a few hours on Friday for sure.

Don
