Hein Gericke Sizing Help

I know there are a bunch of threads about sizing, but I couldn't find one on Hein Gericke leather jackets. I checked their website, but the sizing chart (though colorful) is not very helpful. I spied a used HG Dakar on ebay, but cannot tell if it is the right size for me. It is listed as a 46: is that a European size or a standard US size? Do these jackets run small or large? Even a few general responses from people who own or have owned the HG Dakar is much appreciated! I'm 6' tall and 185 lbs., with fairly broad shoulders and a narrow waist. Thanks!

why don't you ask the seller?

FWIW, my (old original) Dakar is tagged 42. That would be a US size. I'm 6'1"/185 and it fits well. Not much room for layering underneath, however.

There's a 46 on fleabay right now. The inside tag is exactly the same style as mine.

I think that's the one I am looking at! I'm just about your size and emailed the seller already. It sounds like he/she doesn't know anything about the jacket (i.e. couldn't answer questions about the liner or armor). My understanding is that the owner does not have the liner. Krehmkej, since we're close in size, do you think a 46 would be too large?

I THINK it should be OK. Especially if you want to layer anything under it. My 42 is snug. I went to a size 46 (from 42) with my Aerostich to allow for more room inside.

There's no armor as we know now. Leather is doubled up at elbows and shoulders with maybe some "stuffing" in the shoulders.

BTW, the Dakar has (had) a snap-in quilted liner. Looks like that one's liner has gone AWOL.

These are GREAT jackets. I would never give mine up. Wore it all over Europe. Survived a 100 KPH highside unscathed, too.

Good luck!

My hein gericke stuff has been all over the map size wise.

My 44 s-pilot(firstgear By HG) fits me snug
My XL dakar fits me slightly loose (which is good as I can layer under it if I want)
My 46 Old V-pilot is really snug.
My 58 Dakar was loose
My XL perf S-pilot(firstgear by HG) fits well, much smaller then the XL Dakar

Oh I'm 5'8" tall 35" waist and 29" inseam. 200lbs
Wide shoulders, long torso long arms.

A size 42 American size jacket fits me pretty good and I wear around a medium to large fitted T-shirt. like beefy-T
I'm almost always a size large non moto jacket

There's a world of difference between the old German HG stuff and the newer FG stuff. Only thing in common is the name.

Well, I didn't win the auction, so the jacket went to someone else! Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar style jacket? As usual, I'm all ears!

Just looked. $295 pretty good return. These jackets have the cred, for sure. Keep looking, they're out there. A new jacket of comparable quality is going to cost you a LOT more than $295. IIRC, mine cost around 5 bills way back when a dollar was worth at least 37 cents.

There's another leather Dakar jacket that's back on e-bay. Size 44. Might fit. See notes at bottom of page on E-Bay. Good Luck.
