HI all, Just a quick question, Im ringing around for insurance quotes and they keep asking the question is it a K7 or K8 model. Can anyone help me out here? Its a 2007 DR 650. Where would I find this info? Its not on the rego papers & im at work so cant see the bike. Thanks for any help.

if its a 2007, most likely a K7.
to confirm you'll have to check the build date on the compliance plate.

My 06 is a K6 so i reckon yours is a K7. Maybe K stands for "thousands"?

The complaince plate will say which year it is. My 03 was a K4 because it was built after September IIRC

could be wrong but..

the K7 is the MODEL number as opposed to the YEAR of manufacture ie my 11/06 DRZ is a K7, the Model before that was a K5, so you could buy a K5 DRZ in 2006... you can't tell off the serial number on the DRZ's, just call the local dealer and they punch in the serial number to tell you what it is..

and indeed young fella I reckon you are. the model number is for the model year rather than the calender year. A DR made in December 2007 will be a K8 just the same as one made in June 2008.

Not that it makes a difference with the DR, it only designates a paint colour change basically

Yea, but you know what insurance companies are like. unless they have exact details they can and will refuse any claims. My baby was born in 01/07 so she is a K7. Thanks for all the info guys.

We bought 2 K8 DR's in December 2007.

The only difference between them is the stickers on the tank.

If it looks like this it's a K8.
