You need goggles.

Try it once without and you will go buy goggles the next day.

Touching the ground is over rated. Don't stop.

Hmmm. Litre class sportbikes. My spidey senses tell me we might have us a sandbagger.

There are smaller goggle products that work well enough for riding dirt roads, IMO. Even regular-looking sunglasses with gaskets can work. I rarely wear my full MX goggles. But you gotta have something that seals around your eyes or you're gonna have problems out there.

Just bought a Lower Seat for my GSA after a couple of trips with a borrowed one. Found it really nice to have a little extra knee bend when stopping off-road. But a 500 mile day suddenly felt more like a 600 mile day. Buying an Alaska Buttpad.

Don't worry about dropping it so much. I am the same height as you and it happens. The F800GS is more resilient than you think, up until it goes inverted. If you are worried about dropping it you should go out to the garage and kick it over right now to get it out of the way. Or trade back for a CBR.

I ended up on a 990R which is higher than the GS...you just have to expect that you are going to have to buy some mirrors and repaint the crash guards somewhat frequently .

If he shows up with a pool cue strapped to his bike we'll know for sure.

Oh this will be fun.

Those goggle glasses Schizz is talking about help. The ones with full foam (without little cut outs all around) are probably best.

I run goggles with the visor down over them (Arai xd4) and when the visor gets to dusty to see I raise it up and the goggles are still pretty clear. Then I clean both when I stop.

Sent from my HTC using magic.

I'm much too slow to ever lead in this group so I'm usually tucked in back with the other turtles and the goggles/last rights/getting right with God before a ride method has worked well for me. YMMV

Yeah, we try to get right with god before we ride too, and if that doesn't work, you just scream like a girl under your helmet and then pin the throttle ! ! !

If you don't understand us now you should go to a rally or camp out. Nothing but tall tales and burning furniture.

Definitely!

Better to knock a little new off the bars than the bike.

When you hold back and don't give your best. Kinda like a rattle can, flat black KLR. Does not look fast, but then again...

We used to call that a sleeper in the day.
