In Today's News.....

Went riding with Tyler and Kelly to work on our turning skills on Lime Creek Rd. and 1431, etc. Had a great time. Kelly brought his near-12 year old daughter Jill along. Great kid! And Tyler went just about Full Hooligan Mode on me so I had to use the turns to keep up. That new R1200GSW is HOT! Another great day on the bike.

How far did you make it?

I made it with only 4 bearings left in the outer race of sidecar.

WANTED: CENTRAL TEXAS ADVers

Yeah. Sucks. U-joint failed. I should have stopped at first noise and vibration. I didn't and tried to limp home. That shelled that cast "swing arm". Oh, well. I can think about it as "buying a new bike". One piece at a time.

In other news, RTB4 scouting went well. Until it didn't. Always a pleasure to spend time with nephew2. He and I let it rip on 309 to Woodbury. There is a marked 40 that we both swear should be a 30. And another not much better. We were carrying the mail. That boy can flat ride a motorcycle. I was determined to stay close and for the most part I did but ....I am simply not as skilled as he is. Dammittohell.

And it sucks getting old.

Nice seeing Keith and Josh and James. Although I am fairly sure James wants to change his cell phone number.

Don't protect the bike and leave you naked and unprotected. BMW made 20,000 F800GSes last year, there is only one of you. SOG has a blackbelt in ebay shopping. So does Mr2mch. They can score you some clothes on the cheap.

Click report

I set out saturday to get some dirt riding in, was neck and neck with a hustling F350 on 71, when I turned off onto CR310.

Rain last week kept the dust down, and a road grader had recently evened out the surface clear until the last crossing over sandy creek on 315. Speaking of which, not a drop of water was in either of those crossings. Good times.

The rustic barn that was Click's only structure is now just a foundation, in addition, some asswhipe stole most of the street signs for some reason.

Of course, there were only 3 signs that I knew of, the 315\turn off of click road, the town sign, and the dead end sign which was still there.

The only thing worth a pic or 2 were the longhorns, always up for a shot.

I made the obligatory stop at coopers, just as they were opening, got 4 pork ribs for some reason, they were fairly tender, but not much seasoning was involved, and $20 for 4 ribs and extras seemed a bit high, I shoulda stuck with the pork chop.

Highway 29 was shut down about 5 miles west of Burnet due to a fire, so I was forced to do park road 4, then did some of my favorite backroads into leander and then home.

Had enough time to stop by Lonestar and drool over some new bikes, then, of all things, after I got home a thunderstorm formed right over the spread, I can't remember a shower happening this late in July. Its usually no rain until october by now. Looks like I'll have to mow the yard for the 3rd time this year.
