The mud packed in and stuck everywhere. Spinning up the rear packed more mud in everywhere.Take a look at the back of my seat in the second photo below. I have heard stories of New Mexico mud clogging up bikes enough that people smoked clutches.

This was from before the mud got bad. Note the front tires. All 3 bikes had near new knobbies on them.
All mud is not created equally, some of it is really sticky, some is wetter and flings off. Riding it is similar to riding other slick surfaces - be gentle on the throttle and steering inputs. If its deep, then keep the front wheel lighter.

This stuff was sticky but slick. I found better success riding the area between the ruts, but sometimes the ruts were the best option. We didn't run fast enough to clear the tires until we got on the gravel and up to 50 mph or so.

Here the road would go from gravelly and moist dirt to mud to rocks to etc...

It was fun riding.

Ditto. Saw a LOT of deer on my short ride yesterday.

Temps dropped and all the 1%'ers are out. You can't kick a ball of yarn away from a kitten without hitting chrome in Granbury.

I have never met any 1%ers that give a shit about the weather.

Looks like summer is coming back with a vengeance later in the week.

Maybe I'm confused on the definition of 1%ers. I've always thought it was like weekend warriors/fair weather riders.

You really need to read Ryan Jordan's book Backpacking Light. Specifically the section on tarp camping.

Aaah. That explains it. A 1%er is an outlaw biker . As opposed to a lookalike outlaw biker.

That would make sense too.

I like it for the guys that only ride 1% of the time. I could of sworn I'd seen it in that context multiple times on here... musta been a European using it that way.

The leaner no more leans. I've worked the last two days turning it into a rigid. It's not finished but I've ridden it around couple blocks and can fly the chair very easily. The fun thing is I was able to keep it in the air for a couple blocks.

Wut? Highs next week are forecasted to be 90 up here. That hardly counts as summer here. Maybe the forecast for the greater Waco area is for hotter weather.

wow, that is minimal camping. Works well unless you get some nasty weather.
