I've always been a pussy when it comes to cold. Shedding the fat has not helped any with that. But I sure appreciate the rain even if it keeps me off the bike.

Took the Woot bag out for a while tonight. The thermometer says 30 degrees here and it's raining. I was outside for a little over an hour before I got bored and came inside.

Setup:
Woot 20 degree bag
USGI Goretex bivy
Big Agnes insulated air core mattress
Cocoon travel pillow
Smartwool beanie
Jeans
Cotton T-shirt
Carhartt wool socks
Windshirt

I've been using quilts long enough to have forgotten how uncomfortable mummy bags are so I zipped the bag up to my chest and had the bivy closed up. I was toasty.

How else am I going to find out if stuff works without risking a ruined trip?

I still wouldn't rely on the Woot bag but if I was expecting temps in the low teens I'd pack it and my trusty ol' 30F down quilt.

My biggest complaint with the Woot bag is they said it had a draft collar. Unless it's invisible it don't.

For Mexican hotel use the only way it'd be better is if it packed smaller.

My trusty kitchen scale says it weighs 2.696 lbs in the included stuff sack.

It has the draft tube listed in the features section but no draft collar is listed.

For the a bag I can easily take down to just below freezing at this weight and price I can't complain.

In other news I've been staring at Urals again. Kid's are coming and they'd have fun in the hack. That's a good reason right?
