Part-time Texan coming to your area

Hopefully I'm putting this in the right thread- my wife and I will be coming to Central TX at the end of this week and will be looking to do some riding. We'll be basing out of the Medina area for about a month, so we should have some time to check out your area.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if and when we can hook up with some like-minded riders for some exploring.

I'm definitely open to any suggestions from you locals on what to see and do while we are in the area. We plan on doing as much riding, mountain biking, hiking, and sight seeing as we can.

Thanks in advance for any input and I hope to meet up with some of you while we are in the area.

Ah! You passed my test! That other stuff is for people who don't ride motorcycles!

In all seriousness, we try to diversify our activities so we don't get burned out on any one thing. We just finished a month in the Big Bend area and we ended up doing a lot of hiking and mountain biking. We did a good amount of motorcycling, but we're definitely looking forward to a change in scenery.

Medina is pretty far south but lots of great riding where you will be based. SlowOldGuy or Mr2mch are the route gurus...I just ride till I get lost and then ride till I find myself again

I realized that right after I posted here, so I cross posted to the Austin day rides thread! Thanks for the head's up, though.

After spending some time in the desolation of the BB area, we are willing and able to travel a bit to get to places. After all, we had to drive over 200 miles round trip to get to a grocery store that had normal prices down there!

I like your navigation method- sometimes that makes for the best rides!

Nothing wrong with mtbing. It's great cross training for the important stuff.

I can personally attest to the goodness of the mountain biking at Cleburne State Park. These next two places are pretty close by and also get good reviews:

*Solavaka Ranch
http://www.mountainbiketx.com/texas/...avacaranch.php

*Camaron Park
http://www.mountainbiketx.com/texas/...ameronpark.php

Lots of other trails are listed on that site too but those are just the ones I know about.

Yeah, in all seriousness, I too enjoy hiking. I'm not into mountain biking, just too much effort. Would rather be on my motorcycle, but I do take a camera when riding or hiking, love taking pictures.

Ammo cases on your F800? No way! But Zebra skin? Now that's a good choice!

These are the rules by which we live in this de facto CenTex riding community. If you start to understand them, you should think about moving.
