I put on a new rear on the little Harley. Went 55 miles and put a shiv in it. Still riding it 3,000 miles later. I believe in plugs. ;)

The last Full Bore lived most its life with a plug in it. This one will too.

I also had piece of metal in the rear tire on the Wing less than a month ago.

Been a bad year for flats so far considering my mileage is way down to due work hours and weather.

You have been working too much, Rich.

As to the little Harley, now that I own a ramp that costs more than a small enclosed trailer I can get it to the shop for a cleansing. I need a new bluebonnet pic.

In other news Scott Thompson and I are gonna go mostly ride/some explore the route above 20 this weekend if weather cooperates. Gotta make miles so we will be flying low.

Had a dream last night that I flipped a Honda liter bike over the San Gabriel Bridge after watching MotoGp. Hope that is not an omen.

I will plug a tire on the side of the road so I can get home and patch it. I have put 5000 miles on a patched motorcycle tire. Most motorcycle shops will not patch a tire. They say it a liability issue.

Here's the patches I use with great success.

Made by Safety Seal.

On tires...

Just an interesting discovery. Shinko radial tires for street seem to really rock and are priced far below anything else that is decent. I am not sure if they even make dual sport tires, but I'll probably look next time the GS needs rubber. I had a gravel truck try to kill me in El Paso last week while both of us were making a left turn, one of us (me) legally. I was on my fully loaded up ST 1100. Out of the corner of my eye while turning left in a sandy intersection was a large front wheel in a dead collision course with me, and I had to throw the the bike into a very much harder turn than I like, without any gentle persuasion allowed, to avoid getting hit hard. The bike just stuck like glue on the Shinkos. I'm convinced PR3's would not have done any better, as I've run a couple sets on an R1200R. So I am pretty pleased with them, now from performance as well as price. That front tire had 6500 miles on it already and looks like it will do 3k more.

A buddy of mine had good luck with his street shinkos on his XR1200. I just love the PR2's and 3's though and have been getting decent pricing on 2's.

I'll have to check into these next flat. Depending on the damage, I feel that good patches are a better long term fix over plugs. Its a shame nobody patches motorcycle tires.

I would love to have the opportunity to drop it. Repeatedly.

TJ's in Austin is where I go for a vulcanized inner plug/patch. Full service available. LSBMW won't do it anymore. Neither will Wood's.
