lol. No, thanks Savage. I'll just generate my own pea soup.

It has been a doozy of a week. Let's just say motorcycle Hell has been a mere blip on my radar screen. No biggie. They'll both get fixed.

Did find a road that has promise north of Hwy 6 , East of Iredell. Not bad. May can link it into a Raid. Also found a really good rough scenic two track road but when I came out on the highway it was clearly marked a private road at that end. Oops. I was wondering why folks were some kinda attentive to me riding by. Also found one that I'm not sure is private but it looked like it could get real good, too. Gonna have to check the Bosque County official map.

Had I had my flat 25 minutes earlier, I'd still be out there. So....it wasn't all bad luck.

Compared to the F800GS, IMO:

The motor and gearing of the Tiger feel faster (it is more hp). The Tiger's powerband is really nice, seems a bit more even across all the gears. Would like to try that motor out in the dirt, seems like it would be even more torquey/snatchy than the GS.

I felt the shifting is cleaner on the BMW. The stock Triumph windscreen does a better job than the GS at putting your head in clean air, but still sucks.

I like the display on the GS better than the Tiger, the Tiger's LCD has all the numbers kind of small, but I'm sure once you get used to it and know where you are looking it wouldn't be so bad. The standing position on the Tiger was really nice for me.

I like the controls on the GS better, the switches are bigger and easier to get to. I am a big fan of BMW's turn signal switches being on the left and right now. I was also spoiled by the GS' heated grips...would miss those when it turns cold again I think.

Overall I think I am biased, but the Tiger is a great bike on the street, assuming it is similar in dirt. Due to my upcoming year long trip, I am not in the market for anything over 2k right now, and will be looking forward to how BMW responds with it's 2012 lineup.

Speaking of that, there is a faded to pink KLR for a decent price I might go look at tomorrow. Would be a good bike to teach my wife to ride on, and give me something to beat around on for the next two months. The world needs another rattle canned KLR!

Yeah, what he said! Ha! Couldn't agree more. They all feel like my DL, a streetbike in the dirt. I think the 07 KLR might be the end of an era. A true adventure bike that can withstand some crashing with minimal cosmetic damage.

Well, Shady. Ya could wait till you come back. Or you could dump that CBR and have this "kinda whore-y looking" choirgirl waiting for ya.

2008 Benelli TreK 1130 Amazonas. It's got about 11,000 miles on it, riding riding it once or twice a week so it may be slightly higher. It's located in central Mississippi (Madison, near Jackson). Asking $7,500 OBO.

Heck. I'd like to buy it if it has air in the tires. ;)

Happy Trails is giving a KLR away free to a service member. Details here.

It's not a real test of the Tiger until Mudclod dumps it in a mud hole...

Sounds good, if either of us were mechanically inclined, that would be even better. Maybe we need to con ghost into buying one and then he could help up do ours after he does his.

I've heard the 705 upgrade is much more expensive due to the head work. The 685 kit seems to be the sweet spot. Never have heard of anyone that did it and regretted it.

Do you know of anyone around here that can help do the doo and the 685 kit? Lets talk soon. I haven't bought anything yet, but have started a list and found a spare KLR cylinder.

The Tiger was great, I particularly liked the suspension. I suspect a shootout between it and the F800GS will be a toss-up, however Tiger wins on price point. You could totally farkle it with your savings. Oh, the Rep said something I found funny-he said the white model was selling best because it doesn't seem to show dirt as badly! The passenger pegs could be a huge shortcoming as they are "welded" to the trellis sub frame and stick way out. If a horse ever knocks it over it on concrete it might certainly tweak you frame!

Couple of thoughts on the vid, Mud.

1) Where the hell were you going?
2) If you want to ride shit like that, you can come out to the ranch. I have acres of it.
3) That wasn't an uh-oh. That was just an "uh".
4) It took me well over 10 minutes to watch that video. You city slickers with your fast download cable shit just don't understand how slow my "two cans and a string internet" is here on the ranch. Come on technology. Help out us rural folk.

New plan on the wounded Big Ugly. I'll just take (most) all the dinged crap off for now as I'm trying to source out reasonably priced replacements. Some of that stuff is stupid expensive. It's easy to see how these bikes get totaled with the price of OEM parts.
