Still hoping for a tubed-Buell but I really want a clean one. What I'm finding would have to be highly "re-revitalized".

Rusty. I was gonna let 4j and Lynne pick the time since they are coming from Brenham. I don't care.

I'm envisioning a combo class 1 and 2 dirt, sketchy twisty pavement, and smooth twisty pavement ride around Lometa, San Saba, and uhhh probably end up trying to drag pegs around Oakalla. Hard to resist that effort. We'll adjust as necessary.

I'll be spending the rest of the day doing my damndest to find some sort of obnoxious hot-rod HD/Buell so I can I piss off my remaining friends/friend. (I'm already bidding on one on ebay un-sucessfully and have calls in on some Texas bikes. )
I may be in for tomorrow since your riding in my back yard practically. I inadvertently ended up on a rather rough gravel road yesterday and it didn't bother me so I think I should be ok. I'll be on my tiger though since the carb on my KLR sprung a leak.

The yumm cafe did move locations now though it's not actually in Lampasses now but east of town on 190 where Alfredo's Mexican restraunt use to be.

Well, Hell. I think sasquatch is correctamundo. 8 miles east of Lampasas on 190.

On another note, maybe I can find one of these. That'll piss off the neighbors.

That is the bike that came to mind when you mentioned orange and black. Just about the only H-D made today that I'd consider buying. Put that engine through a performance shop and install a race clutch and you actually got something there. Something that ways a ton for its displacement, however.

Yup. Ten down on ponies to the stock Buell plus weighs 160 pounds more. I'm just not finding what I want in Buell land. I want the Sportster engine. No stator problems for me. I've got my eye on a couple tube frames but I may have to go to the XB to get the condition I want. Or totally redo the tube frame bike. Rather buy something already fixed.

new bike?

SOG.....if you are looking for something orange and black that is a bonafide hooligan bike that weighs less than 400 lbs, has 100+ hp, is more off-road capable than your GSA, can kick major ass in the twisties and is totally tricked out then maybe you should be looking beyond the harley/buell brand. Bet you can find something with low mileage and in perfect condition for less than $9,000 if you look in the right place. Good luck in your search. And don't forget a Buell is a piece of "sheet" but you've heard that before..

+1

The few Harley techs I talked Buells with all said they were pretty crappy workmanship. Just not put together very well. And these guys work on Harleys!

One of the guys at Cycle Gear in North Austin recently bought a KTM 690 SM and had it out front. Now THAT looks like a pretty good Hooligan bike.

BTW, what bike are you selling?

Well, Hell. somebody pick a meeting spot. We ain't eating lunch there. Just meeting and maybe grabbing some cheese doodles. A service station with a place to sit inside is fine with me. And pick a time.

It's 75 minutes hauling ass to Lampasas from China on FM's.

And Belton sucks.

Yeah, yeah. I'm doing my best not to let myself think about that beast of yours, savage. That thing might just hurt me. And anyway, we've already talked payments. ;)

And JD. Savage ain't got nothing for sale. For you.

for sale

Jd/Shizzman.......I have no idea what SOG is talking about. I've got all kinds of stuff for sale from registered Longhorn cattle to motorcycles, cars and sports memorabilia. I'm trying to simplify my life. Consequently, I've got stuff for sale. He just doesn't want you to buy Mr. Orange because he knows that you will run off and leave him. He holds out hope that his KLR can keep up with yours. You are his motivation for a 705 kit for the KLR. Hope you have a safe trip south and remember "no fumar espanol." Buena suerte.
