Oh. And be prepared to wave by gangs of leather-clad sport sport bike riders as they come up on you like you were driving your grandma's 66 Caprice Estate.
Thanks for the tip! That's definitely on my list!

Was SOG standing, or using his tall seat foam?

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Preliminary Route

Okay...here is my first rough route plan. Open to suggestions as I've never planned a route this long before.

Day 1: San Angelo, TX > Tucson, AZ
Day 2: Tucson, AZ > Los Angeles, CA

***First two days will be straight slab***

Day 3: Mulholland Shenanigans / Angeles Natl Forest / Big Bear

Day 4: SoCal (TBD) > Death Valley, CA
Day 5: Death Valley > Las Vegas, NV
Day 6: Las Vegas, NV > Tuba City, AZ (Via Zion Natl Park)
Day 7: Tuba City, AZ > Moab, UT (Via Monument Natl Park / Moki Dugway)
Day 8: Moab, UT > Durango, CO (Via Million Dollar Hwy)
Day 9: Durango, CO > TBD (Open to suggestions here)
Day 10: TBD > San Angelo, TX

Day 11: Sitting at my cube hating life.

Thoughts? Alternate routes in case of weather? Too much distance? I'm all ears, gentleman.

Give us all the roads. Day nine needs to go thru Chama, Taos, and Las Vegas NM. But we can work with this.

Haven't really picked out every road yet. Mostly now just making sure I hit the nice ones through the points of interest I mentioned.

Here's a good resource for you. http://www.motowhere.com/

Also some iphone apps like "greatest road" that would be helpful. http://greatestroad.com/grapp.php

Just so y'all can feel my pride.

My daughter and most of my spendable money go to medical school. This is the text I get from NYC today, just a bit after noon.

The Ultimate Drive

BMW has a free iPhone app called The Ultimate Drive which highlights routes of renown across America. Many of our favorite Tx roads are featured.
