I haven't put a round down the Mosin yet. Did you ever figure out what diameter bore it has?
It shoots 7.62X54 is it chamber stamped?

Given that it was made in 1944 it should be .311. I think it was mostly the Finnish Mosins that were .308 bore but it'd be interesting to check. A lot of the factory rounds are probably .308 bore since most people aren't going to check for themselves.

Here's the whole video if you have half an hour it's well worth the watch, especially on wide screen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTvYA...layer_embedded

Only a few of the Finns were .308, The 28s and 28-30s were the first. Simo Hayha used the 308 bore in his 28-30s that he used to make his 505 confirmned kills in 100 days, a record still unbroken. And he used NO scope, he contended that the glass gane his position away in the snow

I believe the .308 on the Finns used a "D" stamp on the barrel to indicate that but don't remember for sure

Not gun related...But...

Anyone in the vicinity got some rear 150/70 17 tires that are too streety for ya layin round the garage. I'd come get em & take em off your hands if they've got usable tread left. ...Or maybe you've got a "like new" take off. I'll pay accordingly. I'm on a pretty tight budget right now so new tires don't quite fit the "bill" ...$$huh

In other news, Rod's mentee (the lawnguy81) has made Texas on a treadless Scorp. I have found him a take-off "that will pass inspection" in Lubbock. Hope he makes it.

Maybe, kind of. I have the last Anakee I took off and it was about to hit the wear bars. And I have a Anakee that still has a thousand miles or so on it on the bike with a plug in it. I have the new replacement waiting to go on. So either or both of the used ones are available, but for the better one (if you don't mind a plug that is holding air) you will have to wait until I get it removed.

Actually, I better check all tires laying around in the garage. There is a chance I didn't mount this last Anakee, but I think I did. If I did, I have the take off. If I didn't then it is gone.

I have one other rear that would fit, but it is old and in sad shape. I wouldn't put it on a bike and it is just waiting to get disposed of.

So, let me check tonight and get back with you.
