Ladders can be dangerous, more than people realise. ://
This thread has deviated from the original intention, which was the possibility of retrenched or retired people living as ex-pats somewhere. Not travelling around the states in a camper van, which is something some americans have always done anyway.

Very interesting thread folks. I am a female, single, in my late 40's. I have been mulling over the prospect of downsizing and doing the RV thing for a few years now. Winter in Baja and summer in Canada (BC) and Colorado. I can fix just about anything and the prospect of maintaining bikes and an RV is no big deal. I'm already an ex-pat having moved to the US from Canada 15 years ago.
What I am cautious about is the idea of doing this as a female alone. I've travelled a lot on my own particularly on the bike but I'm wondering if any folks here have had any experience as a single female traveller in Baja, South America, or Central America. Or if you know of women who have done this... Whenever I mention this idea to friends and family they look at me like I just sprouted a third eyeball in the middle of my forehead.

Although I am male, having traveled for many years in Mexico and central America, I think a strong independent girl like yourself would have no problem. I have seen many single women traveling there and in Asia also.

What I mean and for the sake of this thread, is what sort of budget do you foresee needing to live out of and operate that rig, as well as be prepared for something like a major injury or illness?
