Great travels!!! Reminds me of the times when I used to hitch hike all over Europe when I was 19. You got ball's kid. No 15K $ GS 1200 , no GPS, no expensive riding gear, no cell phone just the free spirit in your heart.
YOU ARE THE REAL ADV RIDER !!!
When you in Chicago drop me a line !!!

Hey Chris, glad to see this again. I didn't realize we both hit Monahans Sands in Texas until I went through your ride again. You've might've seen the report on SOHC4 I started, here's the one I have going on this board:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=527702

Whats the plan when the weather gets better? Are you going to trek out on the 750 or do it on the 550 again? You've covered me ground than me, you may be done doing the long hauls. I need to get out east! If you go again we need to meet up this time.

I sold everything bike wise and I am down to just the 550. Progress has been slow but its down to the frame now and after I drill some holes for the rear-sets should be going back together (after the powder coater gives it back). Which should mean being on the road soon and I am down for another trip. I would do another long haul but I just dont have any money now so I would have to keep it under a couple thousand miles. I have been itching to go up though Nevada then up to the Canadian boarder from there, You have any interest in that route?

When you are rolling through Las Vegas, look me up.

I have a spare room you can stay in while you see the sites, and I might be able to take some time to ride with you when you roll out. I'll even contribute a full tank of gas as a sendoff "drink" for your ride.

Not sure when your birthday is, but Vegas is much better After your 21st.

This is one great ride and RR, good job on the writing and pictures. I can't wait for the next one.

True spirit, true ADVenture!

Thanks! The trip took a couple of months. Not dying should always be toward the top of the list

In other news the bike is almost back on the road, I am saving up for another trip but I don't know when I will have enough to take off again. Some day.

cafe bikes

I had a 71 CB500 Four, green and black one. I sold it 2 years ago. Verry fond memories of that bike. Your cafe 550 is comming along nicely i see. A great cafe racer site is cb750cafe.com, Steve Carpenter has a great selection of cafe bits ( not just for 750's ). If you haven't seen his site check him out, verry cool stuff.

The bike is looking real sharp with the black cylinders. Nice!

Don't forget, I got a cold beer and a place to stay if you want to take a short jaunt up to Vegas and back.
