BTW, SPOT now has a SPOT Adventures blogging site. I tested it out this trip and decided it really needs further development if they want motorcyclists to use it.

Here's a link where you can see the blog. I don't really want to turn my ride report into a SPOT commentary, but just wanted ya'll to know about their new blogging attempt. My comments are written on their site.

See==>

TW, this new Airhawk cushion works great! Used it on the ride for the first time. No hot spots at all. Best farkle I have ever used on the saddle.

Question

How big is that Airhawk Pedro? How many miles do you have on that little Nighthawk? You the man!

This particular bike has about 10k miles on it and has been used for the most part exclusively for rides into Mexico. The bike is ideal for Mexico paved travel IMO. Very reliable and I can fix just about everything on it that is outside of the engine in the event of maintenance event. However, easy preventive maintenance on this bike keeps it in mint condition and running order.

The Airhawk cushion is sized a "cruiser small." Note how I am not using the tethers that come with the cushion. Here is the thread on the mods I did to the cushion. In fact any bike I use the Airhawk on from now on will have this mod done on it. Airhawk Mod Thread

Great pics Mike. Sorry I missed you in Laredo. I was off freezing my ass off in College Station and fighting the weather back to San Antonio when you were "trapped" at La Posada. Looks like a good ride, and just confirms my belief that you have to escape the area right on the border to really see Mexico and get away from any of the "issues" that have arisen with being on the border. Groovy report.
Next time you're down here, the first round is on me.

Will do. I have a feeling I will be visiting Laredo often as I prefer it now to Del Rio and Eagle Pass crossings if I am going to stay on the US side before crossing. However, the destination into Mexico does govern somewhat, but given the choice I'll take Laredo! Might cage it down there with the wife for the GWB celebration.

Jack Ingram and Cory Morrow are gonna be playing the Jalapeno Festival on the Friday of the core celebration weekend. I think its around the 20th.

Beautiful, great report, I'm also interested in the history of this region.
When in the Spring do you think would be a good time to do this ride?

Middle of February is usually my first window for MEX rides.

The Opening Shootout of The Wild Bunch

The opening shootout of The Wild Bunch was filmed in the town of Parras. You can see the shootout below and pick out those buildings that I have photographed in this ride report. Some of the buildings had props so you will have to look closely.

The Final Shootout

I've decided to reveal the final shootout's location for those who are interested. See the above link and comment there if interested. NEWS FLASH! Mapache's is being restored. I've got mixed feelings about that. See the above link.
